UO
- Cracking resistance refers to the ability of asphalt
mixtures to withstand these factors without developing
cracks.
- Performance tests are designed to evaluate how well
asphalt mixtures perform under simulated conditions that
mimic real-world stresses and environments. These tests
help predict the lifespan and durability of the pavement.
UO
performance-based testing into the mix design process to
ensure the mixture meets performance criteria for durability
and resistance to various forms of distress.
- High Temperature Performance Asphalt pavements can
soften and become more susceptible to deformation and
cracking at high temperatures. Testing the performance of
asphalt mixtures at high temperatures is crucial to ensure
they maintain their integrity and resist cracking under such
conditions.

Work Plan
- Prepare representative samples of the asphalt mixture
according to established standards or protocols. Using
UO
Superpave mix design method for designing asphalt mixtures
which consists of the following four key steps
Materials Selection
Superpave
Selected aggregate gradations

- IDEAL-CT
(Indirect Tensile Asphalt Cracking Test)

performance of asphalt mixtures.
- To correlate BMD with surrogate cracking resistance tests to
create a comprehensive understanding of how mixtures perform
at high temperatures, Which enables the development of
predictive models that link laboratory performance results with
field behavior, making it easier to predict how a mixture will
perform before it is laid down on the road.
