Purpose

The objective of this demonstrates Oracle BI Publisher Payment Formats build best practices. There are basically
two varieties of templates that can be used for building Payment Formats:

Manual Check Printing

The customer always provides a Sample Check which lists out all the requirements with respect to:
• Remittance Section
• Actual Check
• Void Check
• Placement of MICR Line on Actual Check
• Maximum number of invoice Lines per page

Tip: For measuring the position of the multiple objects on the Check, it is recommended to use the ‘Adobe Acrobat
Reader DC’ and use the ‘Measuring tool’ from “More Tools >> Measure”.

Building Check Templates

A Check Basically consists of 4 sections:

1. Remittance Stub: The Area which has the Invoice details being paid in the Check
2. Check Stub: The Main area where the face of the check is being printed.
3. MICR Line: This is bank readable line containing the Check Number, bank account number and branch
number.
4. Envelope Address Section: Lastly we can see the envelope address section, which when folded in 3 parts will
be displayed in the transparent window of the envelope

Payment XML: One should have a good understanding on XML Structure to derive the values required for printing
into the Check Template(IBY_TRXN_DOCUMENTS)

Best Practices:

 Maintain the Font and Font Size across based on specification given in the FDD. Font Spacing also needs to be
fixed to 0pt to avoid empty spaces.
 Accommodate most of the Components in Check Layout within tables in RTF
 Use of table properties for alignment and spacing

Check Printing from Alternate Tray

Print Check Stock(Page1) from Tray 1 and Invoice stub from Tray 2:
Some client has requirement like they have two trays one for pre printed check stock and another normal white
paper, so actual check should be printed on check stock and remaining remittance details should be on normal white
paper.
