• Formatting page changes the
appearance of page, insert page
Numbers, Header/Footer, and
footnote/Endnote and much more.
Adding the Page Numbers to the
Document
1. Click Insert Tab,
2. Click Drop down list of Page Numbers
in Header Footer Group (specify where
to insert the page number, at the
top/Bottom of the page).
3. Click in the Alignment box (specify
whether to align page numbers left/
center/ right).
Format Page
• Adding Header and Footer in a Document
A Header appears at the top of every page.
Footer appears at the bottom of every page.
The header and footers contain page
numbers, chapter titles, dates and author
name etc.
1. Click on the insert tab;
2. Click Header and Footer to open the Header
or footer area on the page.
3. To create a Header, Click Header, enter text
or graphics in the Header area.
4. To create Footer, click Switch between
Header and Footer icon on the Header and
Footer
toolbar to move to the footer area and then
enter the text or graphics in the Footer
area.
5. When user finish, click close on the Header
and Footer toolbar.
Format Page
• Changing Margins of a document
1. Click the Page layout tab, click page
Setup, and then click the Margins tab.
2. Under Margins, Select the Top, bottom,
left and Right margin values.
3. Click OK
Format Page
• To change the orientation of a page
• Orientation means direction of the page
that either it will be in portrait
direction or in landscape direction.
1. Click the Page layout tab,
2. Click page Setup, and then click the
Margins tab.
3. Under Orientation, click Portrait or
Landscape.
4. Click Ok

• Read Handout 9.1
• Open word document that already has some content written on
some pages.
• Add Page Numbers to the document.
• Add Header and Footer in a document.
• Preview the page with page number at different positions
top/down, centered, left, right and different Header, Footer.
• Display your work.
Activity 2:
MS Word Practice: Format Page (Text
Alignment, Margins, Page Orientation)
• Read Handout: 9.2
• Type text of your choice (at least half page).
• Change the margins to the document.
• Arrange the text to the center of the page.
• Align the text to left/right.
• Align text to both the left and right margins (Justify).
• Change the orientation of a page (Portrait, landscape).
• Preview the page.
Activity 3:
MS Word Practice: Format Page
(Changing Paper Size)
• Read Handout 9.3
• Type text of your choice of (at least half page).
• Change the paper size.
• Preview a document before printing.
• create a document on the topics of their choice adding all
the learnt and practiced concepts of the day.
• Use “track changes” button and add few lines.
• Return back the document to the ‘developer group.

• What is the purpose of Preview?
• How can we edit a text using Track Changes?

• Create a lesson plan on the topic of your
choice and practice all the concepts
