Undergraduate Research and Creative Scholarship
The University of Montana offers many spaces to connect with faculty mentors, staff members, and other students who are doing research and creative scholarship in your field(s) of study and interest area(s). Joining these intellectual communities, you can contribute your own project as an undergraduate scholar. As Montana's top-tier research (R1) university, research and creative scholarship are integral to UM's campus culture.
The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR@UM) supports UM undergraduate research and creative scholarship across the disciplines, using a broad understanding of research that encompasses scholarly and creative work in STEM, arts, social sciences, humanities, and professional schools. The Office provides advising and support for all phases of your project, from first developing a research question and connecting with a faculty mentor to sharing a final version of your work. Working with Dr. Catalina de Onís, the OUR@UM director, undergraduate students are encouraged to conceptualize, carry out, and communicate their projects with different audiences (the Three C's).
