Congratulations! You’ve been admitted to the University of Kentucky Pigman College of Engineering. Now what?
Linkblue is a directory account (user ID and password) used when connecting to many campus-wide systems, including myUK, student email, Canvas, myUK GPS (Graduation Planning System) and iTunesU.
To activate your linkblue account, you will need your UK ID number and temporary passcode, which are located on your admission letter. Next, go to newstudent.uky.edu.
First-year students are highly encouraged to live on campus. The most successful students do! Living on campus helps you adjust to the rigors of an engineering education, allows you to meet study partners and friends and gives you easy access to campus services such as dining, recreation centers and academic assistance. A living-learning program (LLP) allows you to live with students that share your interests or major, and the Pigman College of Engineering offers the Engineering Living Learning Program (ELLP) specifically for engineers. This dynamic residential experience offers specialized programming, interactions with UK faculty and staff and a supportive community focused on student success.
Applying for housing and the ELLP doesn’t bind you to attend the University of Kentucky, so be sure to submit your application early!
At Big Blue Nation Orientation, you’ll meet with an academic advisor and register for your first-semester classes. You’ll also become familiar with campus and meet other incoming Wildcats. You will register for Orientation in your myUK account.
For more information, visit the Big Blue Nation Orientation website.
UK is proud to award more than $400 million in financial aid and scholarships annually. To be considered for incoming freshmen academic scholarships, be sure to apply for admission to UK by December 1st. For need-based aid or student loans, you’ll need to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid at studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa. You have a personal UK Financial Aid Counselor that can answer questions about your full financial aid package.

If you’ve taken AP courses, IB courses or attended another university or college before coming to the University of Kentucky, you may be able to transfer some of those credits to UK.

All incoming engineering students are required to have a laptop computer for use in their academic studies. PC or Mac? Will I need a calculator too? See the Pigman College of Engineering technology recommendations and minimum specifications.

One of the Four Pillars of Academic Excellence at the University of Kentucky is "Belonging and Engagement." Your education at UK is more than just exams and papers; it is belonging to a community that supports your growth, challenges your viewpoints and builds lasting relationships. There are numerous ways to get involved on campus. There are over 40 engineering-related student organizations.
