Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose & Throat)

peds-ent team

At Kentucky Children’s Hospital, a skilled team of board-certified children’s ear, nose and throat (ENT) specialists diagnoses and treats a variety of ENT diseases and disorders. Conditions of the ear, nose, throat, head and neck can affect many aspects of children’s lives, including their abilities to learn, play and interact with others. Our ENT doctors (also known as pediatric otolaryngologists) are dedicated to helping children thrive by finding the treatment that works best for them, whether it’s medication, surgery, speech-language therapy or combination treatment.

Children with an ENT condition receive more than expert medical and surgical care at Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Our team knows that conditions such as sinus disease (also known as chronic sinusitis) and hearing loss can have wide-ranging effects on a child’s life, especially if left untreated. That’s why we take a comprehensive, family-centered approach to care for children, focusing on their emotional as well as physical needs.

Why Choose Kentucky Children’s Hospital for Pediatric ENT Services?

High-level training and experience are essential for ENT specialists, and ours have both. Our ENT doctors have completed a residency in ENT and an extra year of fellowship training focused on complex ENT disorders in infants, children and adolescents. These specialists perform more than 2,000 surgeries each year, from ear tube placement and tonsillectomy to complex airway reconstruction and cochlear implantation.

Our ENT team sees patients in Lexington, Morehead and Turfland, and surgeries take place in Lexington at Kentucky Children’s Hospital, typically at the Center for Advanced Surgery. The hospital features a neonatal intensive care unit for care of babies born premature or with complex health conditions, as well as a pediatric intensive care unit for children and teenagers who need high-level, around-the-clock care. Kentucky Children’s Hospital is part of the UK Albert B. Chandler Hospital, which U.S. News & World Report named the No. 1 hospital in Kentucky and the Bluegrass Region.
