The UK Markey Cancer Center offers same-day acute treatment options for cancer patients being treated at Markey. We offer this urgent-care service from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays to give our patients timely care in a safe environment.

Markey Cancer Center offers same-day appointments that allow our oncology patients to get a thorough evaluation for minor issues along with appropriate care. This allows our patients to avoid a trip to the emergency room when symptoms present suddenly.
Staying out of the ER helps our patients avoid:
- Being exposed to transmissible diseases in ER waiting rooms
- Long wait times
- Unnecessary visits to the hospital
WHAT WE
TREAT
We treat symptoms that cannot wait until your next appointment at Markey, including:
- Uncontrolled nausea
and/or vomiting - Abdominal pain
- Skin rashes
- Dehydration
- Shortness of breath
(non-life-threatening) - Constipation/diarrhea
- Fatigue/weakness
- Fever or chills
- Cancer-related pain
- Loss of appetite
WHEN SHOULD YOU GO
TO THE ER INSTEAD?
- Marked respiratory distress
- Chest pain or discomfort
- Trauma or broken bones
