FAO Headquarters, Rome, Italy, 12-13 April 2018
The International Forum on Solar Technologies for Small-Scale Agriculture and Water Management presented the opportunities and challenges of the application of solar technologies in small-scale agriculture and water management. It also launched the tools developed by FAO and its partners to enhance the use of solar technologies for small-scale agriculture:

The forum brought together more than 150 participants from governments, international organizations, NGOs, research institutes, financial institutions and private companies from the water, energy and agriculture sectors.
The forum was organized around four main themes:
- Innovative finance, investment and business models to make solar technologies viable for small-scale farmers.
- Capacity development to create the knowledge and expertise for solar technologies.
- Opportunities for water management.
- Enabling environment: Policies, incentives, rules and regulations.
This International Forum was organized by FAO, together with Powering Agriculture: An Energy Grand Challenge for Development (PAEGC), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the International Water Management Institute (IWMI) and the Research Program on Water, Land and Ecosystems (WLE).
