Soggy Spring
Spring so far has been very wet, with most of the region seeing more than 130% of normal.
As noted previously, it’s been wet in the Northeast. Looking at climatological spring to date (March 1 - May 19), there are very few areas in the region that have been drier than normal, while parts of Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia have seen over 200% of their normal precipitation amount. At the station level, 23 of the 35 first order observation stations in the Northeast are currently ranked in the top ten wettest Mar 1 - May 19 on record. Five of the stations have already surpassed their March through May record rainfall amounts. At the completion of May, April 1 - May 31 precipitation totals also broke records.
