UW Botanic Gardens maintains nationally significant collections. Our plant collections are constantly evolving and feature diverse plants from around the world.  We have several core plant collections and hold Nationally Accredited Plant Collections™ of maples (Acer), magnolias, oaks (Quercus), and hollies (Ilex)

The plant collections in the Arboretum can be explored and searched using our interactive map or living collections database.

We also maintain regionally-significant library, herbarium, and native seed collections. The Elisabeth C. Miller Library is the largest horticultural library in the Pacific Northwest and its collection is available to the public for circulation. The Otis Douglas Hyde Herbarium houses pressed plant specimens of accessioned plants in the UW Botanic Gardens; specimens that reflect the research of students, staff and faculty and the Washington State Noxious Weed Control Board’s collection. The Miller Seed Vault holds an ex situ seed collection of rare native plants for conservation of Washington State sensitive plant species.
