The UK MHA Curriculum is built to allow students to build a solid knowledge base in foundation topics and then layer healthcare business skills over two years.
Fall 1: Basic Business Healthcare Skills with cases and problem-based examples
Spring 1: Advancing and layering skills from Fall 1 to prepare students for the summer internship and work in the Administrative Practicum Internships
Summer Internship: Apply all the skills/competencies from year one to a new environment and hone those skills in project-based internships. This is a demonstration of the highest level of learning
Fall 2: Focusing on special topics and layering skills with new concepts
Spring 2: Courses pull in concepts from prior semesters and advance the ability to translate, communicate, and demonstrate competency attainment through cases
The Master of Health Administration degree program at the University of Kentucky is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education. The most recent site visit resulted in accreditation for the longest period awarded, 7 years. CAHME is the only organization recognized to grant accreditation to individual academic programs offering a professional master's degree in healthcare management education by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).
