It is a great privilege to write the foreword of the book "Reservoir concepts for sustainable development" written by A N Thakre to whom I have considered as one amongst my most prominent mentors and philosophers in oil and gas journey of life. An humble man with a creative mind and wealth of experience Mr. Thakre possesses distinct ability to connect geological processes of the mother earth to reservoir characterization. The unique thought process to link complex problems of subsurface to a simplified model is a special art with Mr. Thakre which differentiates him from other professionals.

Experimental methods for determining a performance index of explosives are analysed: the methods of a ballistic pendulum, ballistic mortar, a lead block, and according to the volume of soil explosion funnel. It is defined that the determination of a performance index of emulsion explosives (EE) involves a set of significant features connected with a large critical diameter requiring the experiments with large-mass charges and resulting in refusal from the traditional methods of determining a performance index. Analytical methods for calculating an index of relative performance of explosives are analysed. Determination of the performance indices of explosives with the help of analytical methods helps identify considerable differences in the calculation results; in case of emulsion explosives the results are erroneously low at all. It is since analytical methods do not consider the brisant action of emulsion explosives. This paper represents the developed methodology of determining a performance index of explosives according to the degree of detonation velocity. The proposed methodology considers the key energy and detonation characteristics of explosives: heat and volume of the explosion products, density (thickness), and detonation velocity. The use of analytical methodology for calculating a performance index for all explosive types makes it possible to get correct results that are necessary for designing the parameters of drilling and blasting operations.

Haşim Bey (1815-1868) was a very important music figure of the late Ottoman era. In addition to being a famous musician, composer, and music teacher, he bequeathed a significant musical collection, known as "Haşim Bey's Anthology". This work was published twice in Istanbul, in 1853 and 1864. The two editions show some differences, which can be attributed to social and political tendencies that were present in the Ottoman Empire. This paper presents the Turkish folk songs that Haşim Bey transcribed in both of the editions of his Anthology. The study demonstrates the song titles and genres of folk music with references to the two editions of Haşim Bey's Anthology. All in all, 70 folk songs are documented in the 1853 edition, whereas the 1864 edition contains only 62. In total, we find 84 songs from both editions. Further references are provided to more modern anthologies and musical collections than the ones created by Haşim Bey. Also, the paper includes transliterations and four case studies of the folk songs from Haşim Bey's Anthology as an attempt to show potential for further research. The aim of this study is to showcase the folk songs that were written down by Haşim Bey and to draw conclusions for the purpose of including them in his work. Furthermore, this paper aims to point out the importance of studying musical trends as a contributor in the examination of social life and political status of a community or an era.

Este libro compila once capítulos de historia urbana sobre distintos espacios del mundo articulados, principalmente, alrededor de la dimensión política de las formas urbanas. Uno de los principales desafíos a los cuales se enfrentan los autores, y en especial el editor de la colección, Francisco Colom González, es el de garantizar la coherencia general del libro. Pues, cabe anotar, se propone un recorrido por la historia urbana que va desde la Roma antigua, las medinas islámicas, las ciudades renacentistas de Castilla, los espacios del poder en Venecia, hasta la historia contemporánea de ciudades en Latinoamérica. La perspectiva global asumida puede constituir un aporte para la producción de conocimiento nuevo, e igualmente puede generar pistas metodológicas para la comprensión de las problemáticas urbanas en la historiografía.
