APHCA MISSION
To enhance the level of nutrition and standard of living of livestock keepers, especially smallholders, livestock value-chain actors, and communities at large through equitable, sustainable and safe livestock sector development.
This is achieved by promoting information-generation and exchange, providing normative guidance and coordinating joint action among members countries and other stakeholders.

  • General development and national/international action and technical capacity building in animal husbandry and health problems.
  • Livestock production as an industry and as part of the farming system on the basis of self-reliance at the farm level.

Build up

  • Regional and national livestock cooperation based on collective self-reliance and mutual assistance within the region.

  • Nutrition levels and living standards of small farmers and rural communities through the optimal exploitation of potential resources for livestock development.

Improve

  • Rural livestock agriculture and resource development through disease eradication, enhanced services and inputs, organizational efficiency, diversification of farm production and rural cooperation.

Develop

  • Livestock as an integral part of agriculture through programmes relevant to Asia's farming systems promoting climate-smart livestock production.
  • Focus on small farmers and the harmonious integration of crop, livestock, poultry and fish production so as to maximize agricultural production in smallholdings.
  • Enhance livestock industry and trade so as to bring direct benefit to rural communities and improve their quality of life.

APHCA
The role of APHCA in supporting dairy development and innovation in Asia and the Pacific

APHCA, with 18 member countries, works to enhance nutrition and living standards for livestock communities through sustainable and safe livestock development. In June 2024, APHCA surveyed member countries on dairy sector status and challenges. APHCA supports innovation, research, and development in the dairy sector, providing technical guidance, capacity development, and promoting regional collaboration.
