Greencastle, IN - The Oberlin College women's soccer team was minutes away from leaving town with its second straight North Coast Athletic Conference victory but a late penalty kick opportunity the DePauw University Tigers evened the affair at 1-1 in the closing moments.
Oberlin led nearly the entire game after senior
Heather Benway cashed her ninth goal of the season less than three minutes into the game.
The Tigers scratched and clawed their way for an equalizer but the Oberlin rearguard stood stall, fending off 15 of the Tigers' 16 shots, 12 of which were on frame. Junior goalie
Ali Grant made 11 saves, marking her second double-digit effort of the season.
Oberlin put five of its seven shots on frame throughout the game with Benway accounting for four of those attempts.
The Yeowomen were moments away from making the six-hour bus ride back to town a joyous one but a foul in the box early 89th minute gave set Macy Happe to the penalty spot and she promptly cashed in to give each team one point in the conference standings.
With the result, Oberlin now sits at 6-5-2 overall and 2-1-1 in the NCAC. The Tigers are 8-4-3 and 2-0-2 in the league play.
Oberlin returns home to host Denison in a key conference clash on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
