Women’s Soccer Blanked at Heidelberg

Tiffin, Ohio - The Oberlin College women's soccer team finished on the wrong end of a 1-0 decision at Heidelberg University on Wednesday night.

The Yeowomen created the majority of the chances throughout the match, out-shooting the Student Princes 14-8. However, the home side did end with a 7-6 edge in shots on goal and finished with an 8-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Oberlin was able to fend off seven first-half corners from the Student Princes to help keep the opening half scoreless. The Yeowomen triggered four shots in the session with Heather Benway and Skylar Leung each putting one on frame.

However, it didn't take long for the Breg to claim the lead after the restart as Brianna Braatz greeted first-year keeper Roam Redington rather rudely by scoring a goal just 14 seconds into the frame after the rookie netminder came in to start the second half in relief of Ali Grant

Oberlin scratched and clawed its way in search of a second-half equalizer but Berg keeper Brigid Enright stood tall down the stretch and denied shot attempts from Zoe Garver, Norah Mosley, Averi Williams, and Sophia Timm-Blow. However, Oberlin's best chance to score came in the 57th minute when Benway's attempt hit off the post.

Grant and Redington each made two saves in the loss as Oberlin fell back under .500 on the year at 3-4-1.

The Yeowomen will close out their non-conference schedule and honor its senior class during Saturday's homecoming match-up with Marietta College starting at 4 p.m.
