Greencastle, IN - The 18th-ranked DePauw Tigers lived up to their national billing, cruising past the Oberlin College football team 72-0 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers jumped on the Yeomen from the onset, scoring seven first-half touchdowns and never looking back.
Oberlin's best chance to score came late in the fourth quarter as the Yeomen orchestrated a 12-play drive down into the red zone, however, Brock Stewart stepped in front of a
Cameron Burke pass and returned it 95 yards for a touchdown.
Burke and
Ben Suler split time under center, combining for 105 yards on 11 completions.
Rafael Green-Arnone led the way with 37 yards receiving on two catches, while
Connor Steele finished with 34 yards on two receptions as well.
Oberlin put together its best rushing performance of the season as Burke finished with 49 yards on 11 carries and
Colten Danel added 44 yards on 11 attempts. As a team, the Yeomen totaled 92 yards on the ground.
Overall, the Tigers out-gained the Yeomen 484-202. DePauw QB Nathan McCahill was 14-of-16 for 247 yards and four touchdowns.
Hunter Green led the defense with eight tackles, while
James Chikwe and
Abraham Cromartie V each added six stops in the loss.
Oberlin returns home to host Kenyon College next Saturday at noon.
