Former women's basketball player Alica Smith-Tran lives in Shaker Heights, OH and will graduate in 2018 with my PhD in Sociology from Case Western Reserve University.

Currenty she teaches sociology at CWRU and does research on health, social inequality, sport, and issues related to race and class.

A 2010 Oberlin graduate, she majored in Sociology with minor in African-American Studies. Outside of playing basketball she was involved with the Oberlin Review as a sports writer.

After graduation she earned a M.A. in Journalism from Syracuse University and then worked as a newspaper reporter in Rochester, NY before moving back to the Cleveland area.

She loves and has written a few articles for the Oberlin Alumni Magazine.
