Programs

The Program in Iranian Studies at the MacMillan Center promotes study of Iran, Afghanistan and the Persianate cultural sphere, with emphasis on regional and international affairs, domestic political developments as well as society, history, religion, art, art history, culture, law, medicine and public health, economy, and environment. 

The Arabic Program at Yale offers classes in both Modern Standard Arabic and Classical Arabic as well as courses on modern Arab political thought and Arabic narrative prose and poetry. Since its establishment in 1841, the Arabic and Islamic Studies Program at Yale—the oldest such program in the United States—has focused on the study of all aspects of the history and culture of Islamic societies. 

The Modern Hebrew Program at Yale offers classes in Modern Hebrew as well as courses on biblical and medieval Hebrew, Modern Israeli literature, film, and contemporary Israeli culture. In addition, the program offers Hebrew tables and directed readings.
