Hollan Everett pounded down 15 kills as the Morehead State Volleyball team collected its first win of 2024 with a 3-0 sweep over Youngstown State Friday in the Geri Polvino Invitational at Eastern Kentucky's Rick Erdmann Olympic Sports Training Center.
MSU moves to 1-4, while YSU fell to 2-3.
Everett also hit .275 on a team-high 40 swings. The Eagles landed 46 kills to just 33 for the Penguins. Morehead State also had an advantage in digs, 70-65.

Peighton Isley came up with a team best 18 digs, while junior
M.E. Hargan nearly had a double-double with 15 digs and eight kills while also landing three aces on serves. Junior
Sydney Wyman was efficient on offense as well, with seven kills and no mistakes for a .700 attack efficiency.
Setter
Brenna Bommer also nearly registered a double-double as she had a team-best 19 assists and dug nine YSU attacks.
The Eagles controlled set one, only trailing twice. Set two became much more of a battle, with 14 ties and seven lead changes. Tied at 19-all, Everett had a pair of kills as MSU went on a quick 3-0 run to distance itself for the win. The teams tied five times in set three.Â
