Mike Ranson

Mike Ranson has joined the Morehead State men's basketball staff as Director of Player Development and Assistant Coach. He is in his first year in 2024-25.

Ranson headed to MSU from another MSU. He spent the 2023-24 season as a graduate assistant at Murray State, working alongside current Eagle head coach Jonathan Mattox.

Ranson spent one season at Murray State following a season as an assistant coach at Western Colorado. During his career he worked with well-known player development coach Phil Beckner.

Ranson played collegiate basketball, first at Northern Colorado, before finishing his career at Fort Lewis (Colo.) College.

Originally from Pueblo, Colo., Ranson earned his bachelor's degree from Colorado State-Pueblo. He is working towards a Master's Degree at Murray State. His grandfather Jim and father Brad were long-time coaches at Pueblo Central High School.
