During his previous seasons, Martin has tutored three golfers (Joe Muschong, Cooper Collins, Logan Hogge) to a pair of All-Ohio Valley Conference selections while also mentoring 10+ OVC Golfer of the Week and one OVC Golfer of the Month honorees. He has also mentored a trio of All-OVC Tournament team members (Joe Muschong, Cooper Collins and Nick Wilkins) during his tenure, with Wilkins earning co-medalist honors and a trip to the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Muschong won the 2022 OVC individual medalist and took part in an NCAA regional.

During his tenure, Martin has led Morehead State to more than 40 top-10 tournament finishes -- averaging eight per season--, 17 top-five finishes, and numerous victories.

In 2018-19, Martin led the Eagles to the program's lowest event total in 22 years at the OVC Golf Championships, fashioning a three-round total of 871. The total marked the team's lowest at the event since 1997 and just the third time since 1997 the team had fired lower than 880 in OVC Championship competition.

Martin's squad also fired the program's lowest 18-hole and 54-hole team scores at the Hummingbird Invitational en route to a runner-up finish. The Eagles shot 835 for the event--breaking the previous school-best 54-hole total by 12 strokes--while all five golfers fired sub-70 rounds to help fashion a final round 271.

In 2017-18, Wilkins won a three-hole playoff at the OVC Championships to earn the conference's automatic individual bid to the NCAA Tournament, earning co-medalist honors at the OVC Championships and helping the Eagles to a third-place finish. Wilkins became the first Eagle to ever compete in an NCAA Regional, concluding tied for 69th at the NCAA Columbus Regional.

In 2016-17, freshman Cooper Collins finished fourth at the OVC Championship.

In 2015-16, Martin led the Eagles to a second place finish in the OVC Championship and a win a the NKU Fall Invitational, which marked the Eagles first tourney win since 2004.

Martin helped the 2014-15 Eagles trim 5.3 strokes from their 2013-14 team average (305.5 to 300.2) and increase their head-to-head wins total by 50 percent (24 to 36).  In addition, MSU turned in its best Ohio Valley Conference Championship finish in three years at the 2015 event.

Martin was an assistant men's golf coach and assistant men's basketball coach at Transylvania from 2010-13.  As a golf instructor at the school in Lexington, Ky., he focused on tournament coaching, practice instruction, recruiting, scheduling and travel.

The Pioneers earned national recognition from the Golf Coaches Association of America for posting a 3.00 grade point average or better in each of his three years as a coach.

Martin spent the 2013-14 school year as the head boy's basketball coach at Bourbon County High School in Paris, Ky.  He was also a health and physical education teacher.

After attending Furman and Cincinnati, Martin finished his college career at Transylvania.  He helped the Pioneers to three straight Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference golf championships (2008-10) and earned all-league honors each year.  He also played one season of basketball.

Martin earned a bachelor's degree in physical education from Transylvania in 2010 and master's degree in teaching from Morehead State in 2012.  His father, Wayne, was the head men's basketball coach at MSU from 1978-87.  He led the Eagles to NCAA Tournament berths in 1983 and 1984. Martin's wife Sarah is the MSU beach volleyball head coach, and associate head coach for indoor.
