Landon Steiner

After four seasons at Transylvania University, Landon Steiner, a native of Lexington, Ky., is entering his first season on staff at Morehead State.

Steiner made his homecoming to the Bluegrass for the 2019-2020 season as he helped guide the Pioneers to a 6-5 record in an abbreviated campaign. As part of the Transylvania University coaching staff (Recruiting Coordinator/Pitching Coach), Steiner helped orchestrate the most accomplished season in Transylvania history just one year into his tenure. The 2021 season saw the program set the school record for wins, win the first regular season conference championship in school history, become the first team to win the regular season championship and tournament championship in school history, and grab the school's first NCAA tournament victory.

Additionally, Steiner helped guide four players to ABCA All-Region honors. He mentored the conference Pitcher of the Year (Jake Schmidt) and the conference Newcomer of the Year (Trent Youngblood. While, also helping Hudson Chastain become the first CoSida All-American in school history. 2022 was a season of growth as the Pioneers spent the entirety of the season on the road due stadium construction, The young squad and pitching staff returned that belief in development with a 2023 campaign that led the conference in nearly every pitching category (ERA, Shutouts, OBA, Strikeouts, WHIP, and K's per 9) while securing the second conference finish in school history. Much of that growth was pioneered through a total pitching philosophy involving a program Steiner developed integrating Armored Heat, the athletic training staff, and team doctors.  All told, Steiner's career at Transylvania marked one of the most accomplished runs in school history and a .571 Winning Percentage. He coached two All-Americans (Youngblood, Chastain), six ABCA All-Region Players, and eleven All-Conference performers.

Steiner came to Transylvania after two seasons with the Asheboro Copperheads in the Coastal Plain League in Asheboro, North Carolina where he served as the hitting coach while coaching first base. In his most recent season on the Asheboro staff the Copperheads set a club record for home runs in a season (50). Over his two seasons with the club, Asheboro had six players selected to the Coastal Plain League All-Star Game. Steiner helped Asheboro improve its win total by six games from the 2018 to 2019 season. His connection to the CPL has been useful in his coaching career as he's sent multiple players into the league (in addition to a multitude of others). One of his players has been a CPL All-Star in each of the last two seasons.

Steiner played collegiately at Southeastern Community College (Whiteville, NC) as a two-way player Steiner batted .343 in his freshman campaign. Backing it up with a stellar sophomore season batting .368 with six home runs, being named a Region X First Team selection. After two seasons at Southeastern, Steiner transferred to Winston-Salem State University. As a junior he led the team in batting average and was an All-CIAA First Team performer. His senior year was capped off with a conference title, another First Team All-CIAA conference selection, and he also led the pitching staff in saves while registering a 2.84 ERA while registering over twelve strikeouts per 9 innings. He graduated from WSSU with a bachelor's degree in Sport Management
