The Boiler Inspection Program enforces nationally adopted standards governing the installation, operation, maintenance and repair of boilers and some pressure vessels in commercial and public buildings. Periodic inspections are performed by State Inspectors or by special (insurance company) inspectors commissioned by the Boiler Inspection Program. Inspections are performed to verify compliance with the established safety requirements. The Boiler Inspection Program was implemented to ensure safety because boilers can explode, causing property damage, injuries and deaths.
