He has also written epic fantasy, including the Crawford Award-winning LonTobyn Chronicle, contemporary urban fantasy, and media tie-ins. David has co-edited several short fiction anthologies with Zombies Need Brains, and has recently launched a freelance editing business. He has a Ph.D. in U.S. history from Stanford University.       Interesting premise, good writing, original source of powers. Not impressed with the way the plot ended and how experainced agents were outsmarted by inexperianced kids. No one seemed to be treating the fact that they have powers with due seriousness.

      2.5 Stars for me. The author has talent but ...

      I should know better when it comes to reading/listening to YA stories published after 2020 so I will do my very best to avoid them. In the first 10 minutes of the story, the author had to show he was an all-inclusive writer by having a non-binary character who was mistreated by family and friends with the exception of the h. The author then goes down the path of a government filled with inept bad people. Our government is often inept but the majority are not trying to brutalize us.
