It could happen to you
The news make's it seem so foreign
People crying
Asking questions
But never getting answers
When learning lockdown
Has become an integral piece
Of classroom policy
When teachers have to determine
If it's safer to hide under desks
or sit against a wall
Out of sight and out of mind
It could happen to you
A parent unexpecting
As you child calls you in a hushed tone
Just to say they love you
As the sounds of a fire arm
are heard in the background
I pray I will never know
What it feels like to wait
Waiting is deadly, waiting is violent
Waiting is torture without weapons
No matter how much
We could never imagine
Or begin to understand
It can happen anywhere
To anyone

This is a beautiful poem based on school shootings and its the truth too, it could happen to any of us. Good job.
