    Our Week
    Dear Parents, I would like to thank everyone who came to Back to School Night this past Thursday. I hope that you enjoyed visiting the classroom. The students are very proud of the work that they have done these past few weeks. In Religion this week we will read Chapter 21, Marys Birthday. We will read a story about Mary and learn that her birthday is this month. We will make prayer cards to take home and flowers for Marys birthday. Please have your child continue to practice their prayers and the Sign of the Cross. In Math we will cover designs using pattern blocks, sort pattern blocks, sort and graph teddy bear counters, compare sets of numbers, act out story problems and identify, compare and describe circles and rectangles. In Reading we will continue to work on our second Superkid, Oswald. We learned last week that Oswald loves odd animals. He also loves to draw and design different animals. We will continue to study the letter O and the sound /o/. We are only working on the short vowel sound. Some of the skills we will be working on include: identifying colors, recalling details, comparing and contrasting pictures, distinguishing between reality and fantasy, identifying parts of a book and following oral directions.

    In Social Studies we have been learning about families and following the rules. In Science we will learn about the season of summer. Have a great week, Mrs. Patsavas

    Reminders
    Uniform notes: Please continue to help your child practice tucking in their shirt and fastening their belts. They are getting much better at this! Thank you for your assistance! Homework for the Kindergarteners is going home tonight. Please make sure your child uses pencils (for writing) and crayons (for drawing). We will begin Reading Buddies this Wednesday. Please have your child bring in a book for their reading buddy to read to them. Thank you. Please remember to return the red folder and the white home/school envelope the following day. Thank you! Parent Tip of the Week: Please help your child practice writing their first and last name at home using proper letter formation and holding their pencil correctly.
