Maximum Temperature For SS 310
What's the maximum recommended service temperature for SS 310? We need to use it as a non-pressure part at 1000 C.

You must see the maximum temperature limit in the relevant code. Like for any ASTM material owned by ASME, you may look this limit in ASME Sec. II Part D. For example, A240 Gr. 310S has the maximum temperature limit of 816 C.

Hello Hammad, there are some other materials that can be an alternative to SS 310 but still easily available in the market from commercial point of view. 253 MA (UNS S30815) & alloy 800 H/T (UNS N08810/N08811), both definitely have better creep strength and corrosion resistance than 310. 253 MA price somewhat similar to 310 because it use different chemical composition and alloy 800 H/T will be more expensive since it has very high alloying content. try this website link from Rolled Alloys for quick comparison : http://www.rolledalloys.com/trcdocs/sta ... 09-310.pdf

Better to use incoloy material instead of SS 310 however in my opinion it can be used as a temporary option to sustain 1000 C.
