1 Denition
The Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) feature provides the called subscriber with information on the party attempting to set up the connection to him or her before accepting the call. This is done by displaying the directory number of the calling subscriber to the called subscriber. Analog Network node Call data of the calling subscriber

or FSK call data MDTOG Customer premises equipment ISDN Call data of the calling subscriber

Use and effect Calling subscriber CLIP use CLIP effect Interactions For interaction with other features, see Feature Interactions. Standards The feature is based on the following standards: ETS 300089 ETS 300648 ETS 300659 ----Called subscriber X X

2 Mode of operation
The Calling Line Identification Presentation (CLIP) feature allows the called subscriber to have the following call data of the calling subscriber displayed on his or her terminal: international identication digit (if available) national identication digit and directory number subaddress, (only for ISDN) if available The maximum length of the data to be transmitted is 20 digits. Should the feature be authorized, it will be active permanently. Transmission is possible if the calling and the called subscriber are in the same network node or if the signaling systems MFC-R2, SS7 or QSIG are available between the network nodes. For analog subscribers, EWSD uses the FSK method (frequency shift keying) for call data transmission. A modem tone generator (MDTOG) is used as the signal source. To display the data, the called subscriber needs a terminal with an FSK receiver and a display or corresponding customer premises equipment (CPE). For ISDN subscribers the call data is transmitted on the D-channel. It is displayed on the called subscribers terminal. The call data is not displayed if: the directory number is incomplete the directory number is not present in the terminating network node an analog subscriber answers while the call data is being transmitted (the FSK transmission is aborted) a free MDTOG is not available (only for analog subscribers) In the first two cases the subscriber receives an error message on the display. The call data is also prevented from being displayed if the calling subscriber has activated the Calling Line Identification Restriction (CLIR) feature. The CLIR feature becomes ineffective if the called subscriber (e.g. police) has the Ignore CLIR feature. The call data is displayed.

4 Call charge registration

Call charge registration is possible with: Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration Pulse Metering Message Detail Recording (MDR) for GeoCENTREX Flat rate Automatic Message Accounting with Individual Call Charge Registration (AMA) and pulse metering can be combined. One or more call charge pulses can be generated for pulse metering. Charges for feature input and feature usage The charges for operator inputs, successful subscriber controlled input and feature usage are assigned to the subscriber. The following call charge registration is possible: Facility input by operator (FAIO) Facility input by subscriber (FAIS) Facility usage (FAU) Action Activate Deactivate Enter data Delete data Assign authorization Remove authorization Assign authorization to modify Remove authorization to modify Status request, data request Use FAIO --------X X --------FAIS --------X X --------FAU ---------------------

5 Administration
The operator can perform all administration functions on the NetManager by means of user-friendly applications or MML commands. Feature authorization The network operator assigns authorization for the feature when requested by the subscriber.
