It aims to understand the cognitive and social processes involved in learning to help teachers, parents, policymakers, and society create effective learning environments. As learning now occurs both in and out of classrooms due to changing environments and more challenging teaching and learning processes, learning sciences can provide new perspectives to develop relevant formal and informal learning settings for students. Promoting understanding of this new science of learning among stakeholders is important so they can contribute to improving the teaching and learning process.

    Learning Sciences is a new term that needs to be promoted since there is a lot misunderstand about it. Most of the people thought that learning sciences are about learning science, whereby the learner is learning about science. This thought was totally wrong, since learning sciences is not about learning science. In Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak is the first local university that offers learning Sciences course. By rough definition, learning sciences is a scientific way to study how thing learning especially in human. According to Sawyer (2006) Learning sciences is an interdisciplinary field that studies teaching and learning. The sciences of learning include cognitive science, educational psychology, computer science, anthropology, sociology, neuroscience, and other fields. Based on this statement, learning sciences is a scientific approach that used to study teaching and learning process. This scientific approach help teacher, parent, policy maker and society understand better teaching and learning process. Learning not only happen in the classroom, but also among the society itself. In this 21st century, a learning environment has changed a lot. Teaching and learning process also become more challenging. Then, it is necessary to understand the cognitive and social process that happens around the learners to make sure the learning process become more effective and efficient. This understanding, then can be used to build up the relevant setting for the learning environment. Learning sciences can be used to understand the process of teaching and learning, so then new perspective of learning environment can be created. Learning sciences also known as the new science of learning. Since it is new, it is important for the stakeholder to understand this new science of learning. By then, they can make their contribution to the teaching and learning process. Therefore, it is necessary for us to expose this new science of learning to the public as human complexity of learning either formal or informal need relevant learning setting. The element that being inspected in learning sciences including design of learning environments and emerging of technology. This will help in scaffolding the process of learning for meaningful learning. Learning sciences important for the teacher because it will help teacher to set the suitable environment of learning that lead to meaningful learning. While parents will know their rolls in the education system and contribute their knowledge to the system. The administrative of the school will have better knowledge in leading the institute toward 21st Century learning. It also will help policy maker to make better policy that fulfil the needs of today learner. So, it is important for us to promote this new science of learning.
