The Alberta Advantage is dead after
the Prentice government tabled the budget on March 26. The flat tax rate of 10
per cent, which was the pride of former
Premier Ralph Klein, will be eliminated
and will see people earning more than
$50,000 being taxed more.
This wasnt the only increase to hit
Albertans with the announcement. The
budget will see increases to 59 different areas in the form of taxes and fees.
Things like gas, beer, wine, dying, being born, getting married, insurance and
mortgages will now cost Albertans more.
Health care premiums, which were
eliminated in 2008, will also be making
a comeback as of July 1, and will affect
anyone making over $50,000 per year,
costing up to a maximum of $1,000 per
person depending on your income.
A need for increased revenues along
with decreased spending requires a
tough budget which none of us likes, but

we did expect, said Molly Douglass, the
PC candidate for Strathmore-Brooks.
Albertans know services cost money
(and) expect government to use taxpayers money wisely and efficiently, so with
this 2015 budget and going forward that
must be the rule in order to keep our
provinces position of strength.
Alberta is about to go into a record deficit of $5 billion over the next year. Wildrose candidate for Strathmore-Brooks
Derek Fildebrandt said that number is
closer to $7.7 billion, which is the consolidated total deficit for capital and operations.
Over the past few months the Prentice
government has brought four different
budget proposals to Albertans. The first
was to see some tax hikes and continuing spending. Next was a $2.5 billion cut
in spending and $2.5 billion in tax hikes.
During the televised address by Premier
Jim Prentice on March 24, he announced
that the government would hold the line
on spending but would contain tax hikes.

The actual budget announced will see
a $3.5 billion increase in spending, and
$2.7 billion in increased taxes.
This is just the pre-election budget,
which is likely to be the friendliest version that the electorate gets to see. I
doubt that it will be the budget actually
passed by the PCs once the votes are
counted, said Fildebrandt.
This is an assault on the middle class,
I dont believe in raising any taxes right
now because the province does not have
a revenue problem, it has a spending
problem. Our government still couldnt
balance the budget when oil was $110
a barrel, and despite the decline in oil
prices we still have higher revenues than
almost any other province in the country, the problem is were spending too
much.
This is the first time in years that Albertas taxes have been raised, and the introduction of a Provincial Sales Tax (PST)
has not been entirely ruled out.

3 dead in Siksika fire

Three people were found dead after
a house fire broke out on the Siksika
Nation March 28. Cody Blackkettle, 28,
Troy Pretty Young Man, 28, and Tiffany
Panther Bone, 25, were identified as
the three found in the home. The Gleichen RCMP, assisted by the Cluny and
Siksika Nation Fire Departments, were

called shortly after 7 a.m. on March 28
after neighbours reported seeing smoke
coming from the windows of the home.
Fire investigators found the bodies
while clearing the home after the blaze
had been brought under control.
Its believed that smoke inhalation
was what killed the three victims, who
were discovered in the bedrooms of

the home, an area the flames had not

reached.
The preliminary examination suggests that the fire started from inside,
and did not appear to be suspicious.
One thing that stood out to investigators was the fact that there were no
working fire alarms in the home. A
candlelight vigil was held on Sunday,
March 29 to remember the three.
Town to apply for grant funding

The Town of Strathmore is now able
to apply for financial assistance through
the Small Communities grant from the
government. There are two projects to
be sent forward for approval, one of
which is the east Strathmore reservoir.
We estimate the cost of this project
be approximately $6 million. The second project is for the mainline sewer
from Orchard Park to the Waste Water
Treatment Plant, said Director of Corporate Services Mel Tiede.
There is not currently a firm engineering estimate, but Tiede said it has
been suggested that, depending on timing, the project will cost between $2.5
and $3.5 million.
When asked his opinion on how successful the town will be on being given
the grant, Tiede said he believes the
town will be somewhat successful, and
may not get all of the funding they are
requesting but will get some funding.
Because of the state of the economy
the plan would be to move forward as
quickly as possible if funding is ap-
proved. Grant funding comes in three

parts; a third is federally funded, a
third is provincially funded and a third
would be locally funded.
Councillor Steve Grajczyk raised concerns about being obligated to complete the project even if the town is not
able to come up with its portion of the
funding.
Tiede said to keep in mind that the
town had anticipated borrowing $3
million to complete the roads projects,
which they may no longer need, which
could allow for additional borrowing
capabilities without going to extreme
amounts.
The new reservoir is very important,
if you look back at our plans for quite a
few years were to build a big reservoir
on the west side thats complete and
working well, then we were to build
one on the east side, said Chief Administrative Officer Dwight Stanford.
Another thing is were planning on
spending over a million dollars to upgrade the Brentwood pump station and
if we could get approval to do the (east
reservoir) we could just sort of do some
minor repairs to keep it going without

Stanford thinks the upgrades will
only buy a few more years on the
Brentwood reservoir before it would
need more repairs and upgrades.
The $6 million price tag would also
include a road going from Centennial
Drive (from the Brentwood Pump Station), to across George Freeman Trail
into wherever the new reservoir will be
located. A motion was made and approved to apply for the Small Communities grant, and to approve the projects
pending financial approval.

Strathmore RCMP are currently investigating

a theft/fraud at Rona. On February 21st at
approximately 5:20 p.m. an unknown male had taken
an item from inside the store and then returned it at
customer service in exchange for store credit. Once
the male had the store credit, he left and sold it to
another customer outside the store. The suspect
male sold the card to the customer for $175.00 after
ensuring the card worked. The male is described as
having a Irish accent. If you have any information
that could help assist in solving this investigation
or can identify the male below please contact the
Strathmore RCMP.

Navigating your way around the Town
of Strathmores website just got easier
with the launch of the new website.
Tracy Simpson, community services coordinator for the town, said they went
with a new company, Twist Marketing
from Calgary, who are more marketing-based. Doing so will give the town
more access to more features down the
road if they want to do things like electronic newsletters or campaigns.
There are more things you can do
online through this (new website). Our
citizen communication form you can do
right online and submit if you have any
concerns or questions for the town,
said Simpson.
You can also book the mayor directly for your event in an online form,
well be able to add more and more of
those things that you can do online instead of having to come in to the town,
so thats a great feature.
Something new also coming to the
site is a community groups page that
will act almost like a business directory. Any community groups, non-profit,
sports and seniors groups will all be
able to go on the site and create a profile that can then be searched by the
website users.
Lets say youre new to town and
you have a 12-year-old and you want
to know whats out there, you can go
in there and you can search certain
parameters and it will bring up which
groups kind of work with that parameter that you want, said Simpson.

Another feature thats different is the
public advisory section, which is located on the home page, under news
feed. The public advisory section can
be small on the side, or it can be made
large to go across the front of the main
page so that people can see it if theres
an emergency, and easily find information and important details.
The previous website was outdated,
and needed to be refreshed and made
more user-friendly. It has been reorganized and any information not relevant
to the public has been removed. Permits and applications forms can now be
found online, and it is easier to search
through to find what you want.
We tried to organize it in a way that
we felt made sense to the residents
in Strathmore and not necessarily the
staff, said Simpson.
There may be changes to come as
feedback comes in from staff and residents. Simpson suggests reaching out
on Facebook or the citizen communication form on the website if you have
suggestions.
It was back in 1796 that the first vaccine was

administered. It was for smallpox. However, it was
in the 20th Century that many new vaccines were
developed to control once-common diseases like
diphtheria, mumps, measles, hepatitis, polio, tetanus
and flu. A vaccine for malaria is also on the horizon.
Medical advice is readily available from many
different sources including the internet. However
this can be a double-edged sword because both
accurate and inaccurate information abound in
cyberspace. Its important to know the difference
and get your information from reliable sources.
If you want reliable information on a disease, talk to

due to growth, increased demand and changes to the fire
industry, the department has
outgrown the current location.

Legion, on Saturday, April 4th, 10 am 3 pm. There will be a raffle,
door prize, pictures with the Easter Bunny, kids table, local vendors,

April 9th is celebration of Vimy Ridge, the First World War battle in
France which put Canada in the forefront and on the map! One of
our Executive members, Ray Deschenes, has constructed a wooden
copy of the Memorial standing at Vimy, and it will be put in front of the
Legion to commemorate this day. Please join us at the Legion for a
bit of cheer and to help us celebrate.

the firefighters, the officers and
district chief during the fire services review to determine where
and what would be a good fit for
the Carseland Fire Department.
Besides the need for expansion, it was also determined
during the review that the hall
needs to be located away from
the CP Rail mainline where it
is currently located. If anything
were to happen on the rail line
there the firefighters would not
be able to access the fire hall.
The new hall location will be
across the highway on a location
adjacent to the existing Waste
Transfer Site, south of Carseland

along Hwy #24.
It is located away from the CP
rail lines, and the other thing to
consider, said Unsworth, is that
one third of all response personnel live outside of the Hamlet of
Carseland, so they wont be prohibited by the trains.
The land is municipally owned
and there is already some servicing on it.
It really does provide a safe
and adequate location for the
guys to perform training evolutions, said Unsworth.

communities, said Carseland

for training that the new location will allow the members.

about the firefighters having to

wait for the train to go by before
they can get into the trucks, but
its possible they could get into
the trucks and still be waiting on
the trains to respond.
District Chief Heilman indicated that there are multiple
exits from the Hamlet of Carseland including one a mile east
and one a mile west, given that
trains can occasionally be up to
two miles in length it stands to
reason that one or the other exit
would always be available to the
firefighters to muster at the hall,
said Field.
At council Unsworth presented a graph to outline where the
calls were coming in from. In
55 per cent of the calls in 2013
were north of the train tracks
and 60 per cent were south of
the tracks in 2014.

Quilters
Over 80 people attended the
Quilt Show and afternoon tea
on March 25 at Strathmore
United Church. Sixty-three
quilts were on display, representing over 114 quilts made
by the group since fall 2014.
These quilts are distributed to
local charities including Victim
Services, the Community Crisis
Shelter, and Growing Opportunities.

Sacrifice for Chalice

The fifth annual HCC 25-Hour Famine was held at Holy Cross Collegiate on March 27-28. Ninety-three students participated
in the event, raising $2,200 for Chalice, a Canadian Catholic organization that is one of the most well-respected and financially
responsible charities in the nation. During the weekend, students in junior and senior high drank only juice or water from 9 a.m.
on Friday to 10 a.m. on Saturday. Then they were treated to an amazing Post-Famine feast. HCC thanks all the students for their
participation, the teachers for their leadership and the parents who made monetary donations or donations of food, time and
talents to give the students a wonderful breakfast at the end of their 25-hour experience.

Crowfoot Livestock 4-H club

Exciting news - the Crowfoot Livestock 4-H club
will be participating in the show and sale at this
years 4-H on Parade in Calgary. This is the largest
youth show in Canada and the third largest in all
of North America!
Members of the club are excited to be competing against strong competitors from the Calgary
region and having the opportunity to showcase
their projects to a vast audience. The projects that
we will be taking in are heifers, cow-calf pairs and
steers. The heifer show is tentatively slated for Friday, Steer show Saturday and Sale on Sunday.
The members will also be participating in multi-
judging, team grooming and showmanship competitions. Exact times are to be determined in
April.
Club members have been working with their
projects since November to learn how to raise
em right.
Many hours go into the proper training, feeding,
washing and grooming of their projects. Most of
these bovines will lead better than some of the
dogs you see walking in town even though they
will outweigh the canines by over 1,100 lbs. Come
and see for yourself! Members will be learning to
do by doing all weekend long.
Come and support your local club at 4-H on Parade at the Calgary Stampede Grounds from May
29-31.
4-Hers give back to the Crowfoot Community

Crowfoot 4-H Multi club met on March 2. Before the meeting the club got together to clean up
Crowfoot Hall from 5:30-6:30 p.m., all the floors,
walls and everything in the kitchen cupboards
were washed. The basement was vacuumed and
washed with a bleach solution.
The final volunteer date at Sagewood will be
April 11 from 2-3 p.m.
Crowfoots next meeting is on April 13 at 6:30
p.m.
Creative Options went on a workshop to Fabric Land to get some more supplies, and will be
starting to draw out the pattern for the apron,

reported Kaitlyn Stewart.
On Feb. 8, outdoors went to Johnsons Canyon
and went up the mountain to look at the waterfalls that were frozen and the ice crystals were
very pretty! The next project we have is scuba diving, which many of us members have never done
before, reported Emily Hilton.

accuracy competition, they will be starting their
leather work project in a few weeks, reported by
Riley Stickel.
At dog agility they did walk and sit and worked
on pause box and tire, jumps, chute and tunnel,

THE JOURNEY OF FAITH

For the Christian Church, this is
Holy Week. It is a journey of faith
and reflection that began on Ash
Wednesday, with the season of Lent.
It is the week that we remember the
last week of the earthly life of Jesus
of Nazareth.
The events that are remembered in
the week begin with the triumphant
entry into Jerusalem for the feast
of the Passover. Our sacred stories
tell us that Jesus entered the holy
city on a donkey, a humble animal
speaking of a person of a lower
social position.
Still the people of Jerusalem, who
had heard of all of the wonderful
works that Jesus had done, pulled
palm branches off the trees around
them and waved them as we would
flags to show their welcome and
support for Jesus of Nazareth.
As the week continued, Jesus would
come daily to the city and temple
while staying at his friends home in
Bethany, a few short miles away.
It is said that he would sit on the
temple steps teaching and listening
to the questions of the folk gathered.
On Thursday of this week, some
parts of the Christian Church,
observe what is called Maundy
Thursday or the Day of Commandment. In liturgical churches, we
commemorate this giving of the law
to love one another as Jesus has
loved us.
On Holy Thursday, when we commemorate that last earthly meal that

Parliamentary Report

As your Member of Parliament, I want to set the
record straight when it comes to the legislative
measures our Conservative Government is taking
in Bill C-51, the Anti-terrorism Act. Below, I address the main issues highlighted by the media.
The Bill states that it does not target individuals
who engage in lawful advocacy and protest.
Does this mean that unlawful protests will be
targeted?
The Bill specifically excludes lawful advocacy
or protest from its application. A protest that is
unlawful (for instance, peacefully occupying a
pipeline construction site) could only be subject
to the information sharing provisions of C-51 as
interference with critical infrastructure if it also
met the definition of activities which undermine
the sovereignty, security or territorial integrity of
Canada or the lives or the security of the people
of Canada.
In this way, C-51 allows authorities to distinguish between illegally but peacefully protesting
a pipeline from, for example, the bombing of a
pipeline and endangering the lives of Canadians.
The Bill states that the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) would not require warrants
for all its threat disruption activities. What activities will not require a warrant?
CSISs present mandate prohibits it from engaging in any disruption activities. That means that
CSIS cannot currently approach the parents of a
radicalized youth and encourage them to dissuade
their child from traveling to a war zone or conducting attacks here in Canada. CSIS does speak
with parents at present, but only in the context
of its current mandate of intelligence collection
(i.e. asking questions) rather than threat disruption (i.e. preventing and persuading).
Threat disruption that would not require a warrant can be understood as any activity that is not
contrary to Canadian law. For example, it would
not make sense to require CSIS officers to obtain
warrants in order to ask parents to speak to their
children, or engage in conversations in an online

chat room.
CSIS would, however, need a judicially-approved
warrant for any activity that would infringe upon
an individuals privacy or other rights, or any activity that would be contrary to Canadian law. Furthermore, a judge would need to be convinced
that such interventions were reasonable and proportional to the threat.
Canada already has laws against hate speech.
What will be criminalized that isnt already covered by existing legislation?
Canadas current hate speech laws apply only
to the incitement of hatred toward an identifiable
group.
As such, general threats against, for instance,
Canada or all infidels are not crimes under the
current Criminal Code. ISIS and Al-Qaeda propaganda often generalizes against the West or the
infidels.
While clearly in conflict with Canadian values,
the imprecise nature of these threats are a challenge to existing legislation. The new C-51 definition will better enable law enforcement to effectively pursue those distributing radicalizing
propaganda and advocating violence in general.
Why does C-51 contain no additional oversight
mechanisms, particularly Parliamentary oversight?
Independent, expert, non-partisan oversight of
our national security agencies is a better model
than political intervention in the process. Further,
the key powers of the new legislation are subject
to judicial review and judicial authorization. The
Security Intelligence Review Committee (SIRC)
carries out reviews and investigations of CSIS activities, and reports publicly on the findings.

Strathmore hosts 4-H regionals

Calgary Regional 4-H Communication
Competition Committee

4-H members challenged judges with their high
quality communication skills on March 21. The
Calgary 4-H Region had three public speaking and
three presentation competitions at the Strathmore
Civic Centre. The Regional competitions are the
fourth level of competition for these 4-H members.
This is the last level of competition for the junior
and intermediate members but the top two senior
members continue on to the Provincial 4-H Competitions. We are very grateful for all the judges
who came to judge and the volunteers who came
to do many of the jobs during the day. Senior 4-H
members did an awesome job of being the M.C. for
the competitions.
The Calgary 4-H Region consists of five districts
as far west as the Alberta B.C. border, as far east
as Kneehill County, as far north as Innisfail, and
as far south as Cayley. Each district sends forward
their top two competitors in each age category and
competition event. Juniors are ages 9-11 years old.
Intermediates are 12 to 14 years old and seniors
are 15 to 20 years old. There was 57 members
competing, entertaining and educating everyone
throughout the day this year!
In the public speaking categories, the first place
winner in juniors (9-11 years) was Quinn Sawyer
from the Swalwell Beef 4-H Club in the Kneehill
4-H District. Second was Hannah Sheehan from
the West Carstairs Beef 4-H Club in the Mountainview District and third was Erin Hughes from the
Longview Beef 4-H Club in the Foothills District.
The winners in the intermediate (12-14 years)
competition was Cassidy Read from the Okotoks
Outriders in the Foothills District. The second
place winner was Emmett Sawyer from the Swalwell Beef 4-H Club in the Kneehill District and the
third place winner was Gavin Chalmers from the
Bergen 4-H Club in the Mountainview District.
The senior 4-H members (15-20 years) educated
us on many topics and were excellent speakers.

The first place winner was Brennan Munro from
the Irricana Beef and Multi 4-H Club in the Rockyview District. The second place speaker was Lindsey Pearson from the Arrowwood River Wranglers
4-H Club in the Wheatland District. The third place
speaker was Monique Uittenbogerd from the Three
Hills Wranglers 4-H Club in the Kneehill District.
Presentations were held during the afternoon.
Some presentations were given by one 4-H member and some were a team of 4-H presenters. The
first place junior presenter was Kyla Lightfoot
from the Big Hill West Light Horse 4-H Club in the
Rockyview District. Second place was the team of
Ray & Jack Warrack from the Cheadle 4-H Club in
the Wheatland District and third place was Keegan
Hodgson of the Prairie Partners 4-H Club in the
Mountainview District.
Intermediate presentation winners were the
team of Jordan and Ethan Manor from the Prairie
Winds 4-H Club in the Rockyview District in first
place. Second place was Jett Jones from the West
Carstairs Beef 4-H Club in the Mountianview District. Third place was Dawson McLean from the
Eagle Beef & Multi 4-H Club in the Mountainview
District.
Senior presentation winners in first place were
the team of Codi Ashbacher and Mya Ingraham
from the Arrowwood River Wranglers 4-H Club
in the Wheatland District. Second place was Terri
Huxley from the Three Hills Ghostpine 4-H Club
in the Kneehill District. The third place winner
was Sage Hughes from the Prairie Partners 4-H
Club in the Mountainview District.
A very special acknowledgement to AltaLink,
Capl, Moodys Equipment, the Okotoks Wal-Mart
and the Calgary Regional 4-H Council for recognizing the importance of quality communication
skills that 4-H members learn through 4-H and
these events. Recognizing that confident, quality
communications skills will be a very important asset to all 4-H members and society now and in the
future.

unlike domestic rabbits. Within a
day of being born they are able to
move around and even nibble on
grass. They are adapted to being
alone, and its completely normal
for them to run around and be in

a different spot from where their
mother left them.
If you find a baby hare in the
road, or in a window well, etc., it is
okay to pick them up and put them
in a safe spot close to where you
found them. Mothers do not reject
their young if the scent of humans
is on them. One thing you can do
is to rub the baby down with grass
as this will aid in removing some
of the human scent, which may attract predators (cats and dogs, for
example).

Institute for Wildlife Conservation
at 403-946-2361, or a wildlife centre
in your area prior to intervening.

Fule for Thought
On the weekend, I got my haircut. I know, youre
probably thinking, big deal!
Most men I know though do not like this whole
process. The calling in, the booking, not sure who
to book as your stylist theres so much pressure.
You see, my old Hungarian dad, dragged me to his
barber for years.
Finally, as my pals haircuts looked better and
better, and my barber bowl looked worse, I was
able to break away. Brian my old barber, always
seemed to have tears in his eyes, when he ran into
me, as I was one of the last of the young guys
to break it off with him! It actually did feel like a
breakup, and I tried my best to avoid him!
Thats why I felt so guilty at my latest haircut
here in town. I committed the faux pas of calling
in, and not asking for my usual stylist! It didnt hit
me until I was sitting in the chair with another girl!
I felt like Id been caught cheating on my stylist. I
know its not like were dating or anything weird
like that, but I had gone to someone else. I hadnt
called, or told either of my regular stylists, that It
was me, not you I just went with someone else!
Every time one of them walked by, I looked down
to avoid eye contact! What a heel I was!
Actually, in the huge mirror in front of you when
you get a haircut, I never know where to look. If
you look straight ahead, Im always worried the
stylist thinks youre checking her out!
If you look at other people, I worry they think
Im thier stalker! So, thats why I look down
through the whole haircut. The stylist has to ask me
to check and see how I feel about the cut. I dont
know how I feel I dont even remember the answer to her first question! What kind of cut do you
want? How short do you want to go? Did your last
stylist use clippers or scissors? I didnt know the
answers to any of those questions! I felt like a kid
who hadnt studied for a big test! How can you go
for regular haircuts and not know what the stylist
did? Its because Im so stressed about not staring
ahead, that I tune out during the cut. In fact, there

have been times when Ive dozed off! Thats got to
be really helpful to the stylist, when your head suddenly flops forward, or suddenly jerks backward!
Thats a good way to get a jugular cut.
Most parents worry that their little kids will cry
or scream during their haircuts. Not us one of us
would have to stand next to Brennen, because hed
get that dozy faraway look in his eyes, and nod off,
sound asleep! Wed basically have to hold him up,
as he slept through the haircut! Then, haircut done,
one of us would carry his limp, snoring little body
out to the van! Ah, good times.
I never know if youre a new reader or someone
whos managed to stay on as a regular.
So, I always worry about repeating myself. In
case you are new, or dont read all that carefully, I
made a huge hair mistake with Debbie. I love her
hair dark, and one weekend, years ago, I convinced
her to color her hair at home. It was just before the
first day of school, too. Whatever color it was that
I pushed on her, it was the wrong one! Her hair
turned out Elvira, Mistress of the Dark black! I
dont think it could have gotten anymore black! She
was mortified, cried, and panicked about school
on Tuesday! To make a long story short, I had to
search the Yellow Pages for a salon that could strip
away this hideous black, and then they colored it
to her natural shade. It was a $300 mistake, Ill
never make again!
So, Id like to apologize to my regular stylists.
This latest one meant nothing to me, it was just a
one time thing!
It happened this once, and it wont happen
again. Ive learned my lesson that you have to be
true to your stylist, that is, unless its me making a
color choice!

hosts blood clinic

Giving blood is one of the easiest
things you can donate. Its free, its
something you have plenty of, it can
literally save a life, and you can get a
cookie in the end. And who doesnt
love cookies?
On April 6 from 4-8 p.m. Strathmore
High Schools (SHS) Student Leadership Council (SLC) wants you to come
and give blood.
We joined up with the Young Blood
for Life campaign to broaden our
schools fundraising efforts. We wanted
to make more of an impact besides just
selling baked goods for SLC or wearing
crazy socks, said Chelsea Dyck, with
the SLC.
We wanted to actually make an impact in peoples lives. We signed up
through the Canadian Blood Services
Calgary branch. It was really easy to
set it all up.
The Young Blood for Life is a national donor recruitment program that
runs from the beginning of September
until the end of May, and is designed
to raise awareness in all students and
to encourage people to get their fellow
students, family, friends and teachers
to donate blood.
At the moment the clinic is about
40 per cent booked, but we have a lot
of openings we have about 70 open
appointment spots to fill for that clinic.
Its tough to ask people to come out
on an Easter Monday but, its also an
amazingly great cause and reason to
do it, said Susan Matsumoto, director
of donor relations for Canadian Blood
Services Alberta, Saskatchewan and
Northwest Territories region.
It only takes about an hour of time
when you come to the clinic to when
youre ready to leave.
The most needed blood type is O
negative, which is the universal blood
group for whole blood.
The reason it is so important is, if
someone is in a car accident for example, and you dont know that persons blood type, the type of blood that
you can give to anyone is O negative
blood, said Matsumoto.

Generally during a transfusion in the
hospital the nurses would know the
patients blood type and give them the
same type; but in an emergency and
the patient needs blood immediately,
you can give them O negative. A person in an accident could require up to
50 units of blood, which could take
50 different people to get. Each time a
person donates they give 500ml.
When that unit of blood is processed
it can be made into three different
products: red cells, plasma or platelets.
Red blood cells have the iron component, plasma is often used for burn victims and platelets are the clotting factor of blood.
Some people require routine blood;
someone with leukemia could need up
to eight donations a week as part of
their therapy, said Matsumoto. Someone going through cancer treatment
could need five donations. Heart surgery could take five donations, people
going through bone marrow could
need up to two donators a day for a period of time, and people going through
hip replacement could take two donations as well.
The need for blood is constant. Canadian Blood Services is the only organization in Canada, outside of Quebec,
that provides all of our hospitals with
the blood products that they need,
said Matsumoto. Everyone is required
to complete a questionnaire to determine if they are eligible to donate
blood. A copy of that can be found on
the website, or if you have questions
call 1-888-to-donate and a nurse will
be able to help.
There are three easy ways to book
an appointment, either by going online
at blood.ca, calling the national centre
at 1-888-to-donate or via a mobile app
available for iPhones and Android devices.
Individuals can also indicate that
theyre donating on behalf of Strathmore High Schools participation of
Young Blood for Life program by going to www.blood.ca/joinpartnersforlife. Look up the high school under the
ID number STRA13361.

Cinderella Project
makes grad attainable

In 2012 former Strathmore
resident Loralee Lenox discovered the Cinderella Project. She had been trying to
figure out what to do with
the beautiful gown she had
bought for grad. After not
receiving any responses for
the dress after posting it for
sale, she knew there had to
be someone who could appreciate it.
There arent too many occasions to dress up in beautiful dresses like the ones
you see at graduation. But
the dresses are expensive
and costs on top of that like
hair and shoes can make this
experience unattainable for
some, said Lenox.
Graduation from high
school takes effort and dedication and I think everyone
deserves to have a positive
and memorable grad experience. I waited years before
donating my dress because
it was so beautiful and I had
some great memories wearing it ... but it wasnt doing
anything but gathering dust
in my closet. I decided Id
rather someone else enjoy
it than have it hanging in a
garment bag.
She was put in touch with
Strathmore High School
teacher Karen Harris, who

told her about the Cinderella
Project.
The Cinderella Project began in 2005 with Sir Winston
Churchill High School in
Calgary. The staff and fashion students had set out to
collect used gowns to donate to students around Calgary who were financially
unable to attend their grad
banquets.
Since 2005 those numbers
have grown, with hundreds
of girls getting the opportunity to be pampered and celebrate one of the most important events in their lives.
It takes hard work to get
a high school diploma and
grad is the celebration of all
this hard work, said Lenox,
which is why she is again
collecting dresses. Everyone deserves to take part regardless of income.
Donations must be in
good, clean, condition and
grad-appropriate for girls
ages 17-18. Other donations
such as shoes, jewellery, evening bags and gift cards are
also accepted.

donations and deliver them

Hussar Playschool students built a special trap to try to capture a leprechaun on St. Patricks Day. Lucky the Leprechaun managed to get away,
leaving in his wake a mess of green paper and gold. He also left a shamrock
and special piece of gold for each of the playschool students.

Food for those in need

Food for Fines was back at the Strathmore Municipal Library for the month
of March. Throughout the month people who brought in non-perishable
food items would have $2 of their fines waived. There were 607 items collected, and $625.80 worth of fines waived. The food drive was considered
a success.
Cadet recognition
The Strathmore Air Cadets recognized
some of their members at a meeting on
March 25 in the Agricultural Quonset for
their services to the organization. On hand
for the presentation was WO II Hermanson

Cats becoming a concern in Carseland

The Hamlet of Carseland has seen a
growing number of domestic and feral
cats roaming around the area and has
become a concern to much residence
in the area.
The issue has been brought up to

Wheatland County Council to possibly
implement a cat bylaw.
It was a request from councilor
VanderVelde, and in Carseland there
were a few complaints he received
about cats running at large, said Alan
Parkin, Wheatland Countys Chief Administrative Officer. Our staff did a bit
of a review, and were not recommending to put in a cat bylaw because of a
number of things, but we certainly do
have the capabilities of taking nuisance
cats to the SPCA and they can adopt
them out to a home where they can be
taken well care of in Calgary.
Unfortunately, animals go astray
and the next thing you know you got
a nuisance on your hands and maybe a
safety concern.
The county does not regulate cats
owned within the bylaw guidelines;
there has only been a bylaw set for
dogs.
Currently, we dont have a cat bylaw
in Wheatland County, we can only assist property owners in capturing the
animals and getting them to the SPCA,
said Parkin.
The Wheatland Countys Level 2
Peace Offices are the only ones who
have the authority to enforce animal
bylaws.
If a cat bylaw were to be put into motion, the peace officers would require
possibly a .5 position increase to their
department.

Its just an updated fire service agreement thats in place. Rocky View has
been working with our staff to get that
up to date, said Wheatland Chief Administrative Officer Alan Parkin. It still
provides the same services. We work a
lot with Langdon, down to the Carseland area, they reciprocate both ways.
This agreement will allow for both
counties and their municipalities to provide mutual aid to each others areas at
no cost.
In addition to not having any costs involved, this will allow for a seamless fire
response to all citizen emergency needs
without the concern of economic repercussions.
Parkin also said that negotiating was
not a big issue as there was a lot of cooperation from both sides.
It was last November or December
and we had a couple meetings with
them and its basically a final state
now and thats why were getting it approved, said Parkin.
The agreement outlines as follows:

East coast crooner JP Cormier is coming to Strathmore for
a show on April 17.
Cormier, whose style has been called a Canadian mix of
bluegrass, folk and Celtic, is a solo performer, a multi-instrumentalist and a singer-songwriter.
I just play music what I like, said Cormier. I have a vast
catalogue of influences.
Chet Atkins is his biggest inspiration and earliest influence; Cormier started playing the guitar because of him.
Among the instruments Cormier plays are the mandolin,
fiddle, banjo, bass, oboe, piano, and drums.
On the other side of the coin there were Cape Breton
players like John Allan Cameron and Winston Fitzgerald was
one of our greatest fiddlers, said Cormier.
My father was a fiddler so I was around that music my
entire childhood, thats what I guess gave me such an interesting cross section of musical heroes. I was steeped in the
Cape Breton tradition but I was surrounded by recordings
of the great American artists like Chet, Doc Watson, Tony
Rice, a lot of bluegrass players, a lot of Americana, mountain
music.
Music is something Cormier thinks he was meant to do.
At the age of three he was already putting his own LPs on
the turntable and listening to them, and by the age of five he
picked up a guitar and never looked back.
This is what I have always done. This isnt a job, its a life,
and there was no other choice for me. At a very young age

After the show, I asked Daigle how
she did it. She told me shed put on a
blindfold and ear buds with very loud
music, then moved around her house
to explore the world with no vision and
hearing. She discovered that her world
was limited to her memory of what was
around her, and what was within the
reach of her arms. She could feel it if
something hit the wooden floor, but
couldnt tell when someone entered the
room.
Then, when she began rehearsals,
Daigle had to combine the ability to act
as if she sees and hears nothing with
detailed attention to everything happening around her. In other words,
she learned to be aware of everything,
while acting like shes aware of nothing. I have to say again she does a
remarkable job.
The entire performance is so heartfelt

Rosebud Theatres The Miracle Worker is tough, tender

The Miracle Worker, which opened
in Rosebud Theatre on March 27, is
the truth-based story of six-year-old
Helen Keller ( Jenny Daigle), who became blind, deaf and non-verbal after
an illness in infancy. Shes been wildly
spoiled by her family ever since and
20-year-old Annie Sullivan (Brynn Linsey) has come to do what she can, if
anything can be done, for Helen.
Before I saw the show, I was fairly
confident Rosebud Theatre would tell
this story well, but I confess to having
a small fear. My own family includes a
child with a severe disability, and Ive
taught and loved many other children
with special needs. So Im all too familiar with the misconceptions of most
people who dont have loved ones with
disabilities. I was worried Id see the
same misunderstandings here.
Im glad to say I didnt see them at
all! I was touched by the shows honesty about both the tenderness and
toughness of raising a child with special needs. Paul F. Muir and Alysa Glenn
playing Helens parents portray a
deep love for her, but dont pretend
that raising her is easy.
Linsey, as Annie Sullivan, emphasizes
that she doesnt love Helen as her parents do at least not yet. Yet shes determined to help Helen, and is brutally
frank about how hard the job will be.
But I suspect the performances of
Muir, Glenn and Linsey wouldnt matter as much if Daigle couldnt convince
us she is truly deaf and blind. And, remarkably, she does. During the entire
two hour show, I marvelled that she

Robinson has an extensive collection

of memorabilia, which includes over
2,000 books, the builders photographs
from the Harland and Wolff and the
complete Titanic prints by marine artist
Ken Marschall, and has also met several
Titanic survivors, including Eva Hart.
He has such an extensive knowledge
of Titanic that at our last program we
had a lady raise her hand who had family on the Titanic and Larry was able
to name that ladys entire family, said
Erison.
For those that attended the exhibit a
couple years ago, this time Robinson
brought a few new items from his collection to share.
Titanic keeps everybodys interest
up all the time. It keeps me going on a
daily basis, said Robinson.
I try to keep it different every show
for the people that come back, they
see something different. Same with the
small exhibit material stuff, I bring different stuff as well.
One of his favourite pieces of memorabilia that he brought for this exhibit is
a piece of cabin wood from the Titanics
sister ship, the Olympic.
It was dismantled in 1935, a lot of
the cabin furnishings were taken out
and put into a paint that were used for
paint offices in a paint factory and in
1997 they destroyed the paint factory,
tore it down and so all the Olympics

able to grab a panel from C86s suite
room and also a large panel, which I
wont bring to the exhibit because its
so heavy, its a large panel of oak from
the grand staircase, said Robinson.
You feel that 100-year-old wood,
sure its the Olympic but the same
craftsmen that worked the Olympic
were transferred right over to the Titanic when it was done.
In Grade 6 he had read the book A
Night to Remember and it grabbed his
attention, turning into a life-long passion.
He brought his nephew Brett Zanidean, 11, who is also an enthusiast and
who Robinson hopes will take over for
him one day.
It was the first biggest ship, so I
kind of got interested in that and then
I learned that a lot of people were on
it, and its just interesting to me, said
Zanidean.
I like how much work they put into
it, and how they got that nice of a ship
back in the day.
The books are what he enjoys most
about his uncles collection.
The childrens program will run April
10 at the library from 3 p.m. to 4:30
p.m. The adult program will be on from
7p.m. to 9 p.m. Both programs will provide a different look to the ship and
what happened that fateful day.

For the first time in team history, the UFA Bisons were crowned
league champions with a convincing 5-0 victory over the CAC
Gregg Distributors in the fifth and deciding game on March 29
in Edmonton. The Herd are heading to Vancouver to face the
NE Chiefs in the Pacific Regional Championship starting April
3 for a berth to the Telus Cup.

The UFA Bisons claimed their first
provincial championship in franchise
history with a convincing 5-0 win in
Game 5 of the AMHL final on March 29.
After suffering a 2-1 defeat in Game
4 on home ice on March 27, the local
triple-A midget team was able to put
that tough loss behind them and focus
on winning the championship in Edmonton.
Assistant coach Sandy Henry was
lost for words after the emotional performance in Game 5, where they were
able to wear down CAC Gregg Distributor Canadians and shut down any
chance they had.
You know weve been on an emotional rollercoaster. We certainly
thought we had a great chance to win
it at home. I think the guys were disappointed, not even so much for themselves, but that we didnt get a chance
to do it for our fans, said Henry.
They came up here pretty focused
and guys were loose, we were laughing
on the bus on the way up. Today, when

it was business time, the faces go stern
and then they just go to work.
Henry said that their game plan
worked to perfection by wearing CAC
down early, and that was crucial on
their way to winning the championship.
Our game plan was to make sure
we got on the body, make sure were
getting pucks deep, said Henry. I
thought we did a great job in the first
period finishing all of our checks and
we made them deal with us, handle us,
physically move us around. I think it
took a toll on them and over time its a
hard game when thats happening and
once we got on the upside of it, its an
easier game when the score is in your
favour to go and continue to do it.
All playoffs the boys have been making teams play their style, which has
led to them beating teams (so far) quite
handily.
I think we forced them to play our
style and thats why we win, said Henry. We took the game out of their hands
and made them come and get it, and as
the rest of the teams here, no one has

been able to come and get it yet.
Captain Shane Fraser opened up the
scoring in Game 5 while Will Conley,
Jordan McConnell, Gary Haden and
Barrett Sheen added singles to book
their trip to the Pacifics.
Local Shane Fraser is thrilled to captain his hometown team to the league
championship.
Words cant even describe it, basically its something special, said Fraser. We knew we had something special from the start, we had a few rough
patches throughout November and after the Macs we knew we had something special there and we knew we
could do it.
Veteran defensemen and Strathmore
native, Josh Bishop, knew the team had
what it took to be a league champion.
Everybody came together in the
room at the right time and put wins together, said Bishop.
He added that the teams defense
played a pivotal role in winning the series.

same, said Bishop. We all worked the
same and got it done together.
Sheen was the lone goal scorer in the
overtime loss in Game 4.
In Game 3 on March 25, it was McConnell with the hat trick while Markus
Lavallee and Trygve Many Guns added
one each in the 5-0 triumph.
The Vancouver NE Chiefs will be the
Bisons opponent in the Pacific Regional Championship, and Henry added his
view on them, having played them in
the Macs.
Theyve taken out some good teams
along the way. Obviously their team is
a little different than it was last time we
played them, but were quite a bit different than we were, said Henry. That
first game is going to be a feeling-out
process.
The Pacifics will be from April 3-5 in
Vancouver.
Game 1 is April 3 (8 p.m.) while Game
2 is the following day, also at 8 p.m.
Game 3, if necessary, is set for 2 p.m.
on April 5. All games will be played at
the UBC Arena.

The Strathmore U19B ringette team had a strong season despite falling just short of a medal at
provincials in Drayton Valley from March 27-29.

The Strathmore U19B ringette just fell

short of medalling as they lost to their
county rivals from Rockyford on March
29 in Drayton Valley.
Despite the loss, manager Tami Lemoine thought it was an overall successful
season.
We came fourth in the province out
of eight teams. It was fantastic, they won
their B pool that they were in and won
all three games, said Lamoine.
Then they lost their crossover game,
their fourth game, on Saturday night and
then went on to play Rockyford, the rival, said Lamoine.
Lamoine was really impressed by how
well their zone was represented at the
tournament.
Zone 2 was well represented, (having)
two of the top eight teams in the province, said Lamoine.
The provincial appearance showed
how good of a season it was for the U19B
squad.
They were very strong, beating out
their Calgary rivals who was the top team
we played all year. They did not finish in
the medals, it was Lacombe and Drayton
Valley that finished first and second with
the host team getting gold, said Lamoine.
It was phenomenal, we beat some of
the strongest teams in the province. We
beat Rockyford in the round robin and
they beat us in the bronze.
The main goal that was set out for the
team was to get to provincials, and they
did.
Kings Bruneau commits to Lindenwood University

Brady Bruneau has committed to Lindenwood University
in Belleville, Ill. starting in
the 2015/16 season.
He will be playing for the
Lindenwood Lynx program,

which finished atop their division in the ACHAs Division
2, amassing a 29-2-1 record in
the process.
The Calgary native marketed himself through a profile
he created and the Lynx really liked what he put on the
table.
I did a profile through NCSA, I uploaded videos from my midget double-A
year and camps I went to in the spring
and summer. The program matches you
with a bunch of schools based on your
academics and skill level, said Bruneau.
They interview you and e-mail back
and forth. Its kind of how it got started,
and he (coach Lindsay Middlebrook)

His decision was made easier because, like the Wheatland Kings, Lindenwood offers a lot of opportunities to
play.
Theyre keeping a Division 2 team and also having
a Division 1 team, so there is
a lot of opportunity to play,
said Bruneau. With it being a
new program, there is a lot of
opportunity for everyone and
you just got to go in and earn
it and get the spot.
He admits that he was
pretty fortunate to get recognized and play close to home
for considerably less than he
would have in other junior B
leagues.
It was nice playing close
to home and didnt have to
travel all that far from Calgary
and didnt have to go down
to the states or anything to
get noticed. That was one of

this year was to go down and
play college hockey at some
point, its nice to get that out
of the way, said Bruneau. I
went and tried for the KIJHL
at the beginning of the year
and got released in late September and then I ended up
calling Jeremy as he ended
up talking to me in the summer and ended up coming
here. It was a lot less off the
pocketbook, you didnt have
to pay billet fees, you could
stay at home and pay the
team fees.
A lot of credit goes to his
coaches from previous years.

Weve practiced once a week in Calgary since the end of September and
we went into the Okotoks mens league

league, the team competes in the provincial junior league where they earned
a berth in the international tournament.
Were a part of the Alberta Junior
tour so its a tour thats all across Alberta. Thats the age group above us, we
play up in order to play better teams,
said Wilson. Youre not going to get
better if you play people below you.
Team Hodgson qualified for the international event by winning the provincials, which were also in Edmonton.
It was a five game round robin up
there and we were the highest record
at 4-1 and everybody else had 3-2. To
get to provincials we had to play for
Southern Alberta which was in Brooks
and we came out of the B qualifier,
said Wilson.
The teams that they will be up against
will be from across Canada and the
United States.
On the mens side, there is Connecticut, Washington and New York. Then
we have from Canada, B.C., Saskatchewan and Manitoba, Northwest Territories, Yukon, Nova Scotia, Ontario and
Newfoundland, said Wilson. Our goal
is to medal this weekend, its our first
year there so wed be happy to medal.
Were expecting to medal because
there is quite a few younger first-year
teams that are there but not as strong
and there is the returning champ from
Washington so thatll be a tougher competition.
The opportunity that presents itself is
thrilling for Wilson.
Im really excited, a little nervous,
said Wilson. Curling is a big part of our
family, its good to do it well and have
the support from your family when
youre in that high of curling.

The Strathmore Spartans high school

badminton team have shown signs of
their potential after their home tournament on March 28.
The SHS badminton team played in
the largest and most difficult tournament
of the year when they hosted 12 other
schools from around the province, said
coach Kenton Zandee.
The team fared well despite some very
difficult competition.
Despite fierce competition, the team
performed admirably, winning eleven
medals. Nik Nizetic won bronze in intermediate boys singles, Lauren Zandee
and Nick Wylie won bronze in senior
mixed doubles, while Shayla Pollock
and Lauren Zandee won silver in senior
girls doubles, said Zandee.
Zandee, Libby Wheeler and Jayda
Stewart won silver in their respective
singles categories, Nizetic and Maik
Honsch won gold in intermediate boys
doubles, and Jared Dougan won gold in
senior boys singles.
Zandee really praised his team for the
hard work considering the short turnaround.
An excellent job for the entire team as
all played showed marked improvement
in their play, said Zandee.
The team will next be in Lethbridge
for a tournament after Easter Break
before they go to county playdowns,
which will determine wheather they go
to zones and provincials.

The Wheatland Chiefs won their third league title in five years on March 28 with 5-1 series clinching victory in Red Deer.

Head coach Devin Olson is going out a champion as his Wheatland Chiefs won their third
SCAHL title in five seasons.
The local double-A midget team used a 3-1 win
in Game 3 on March 27 and a 5-1 victory in Game
4 on March 28 to take the series over Red Deer
in four games.
The Chiefs were able to forget a disastrous provincial tournament they had and took advantage
of a tired Red Deer squad.
Our team came into another level, they were
determined and focused. They played a good
game on Friday night and that Red Deer team had
one strong line and they were matching lines and
we were matching lines, said head coach Devin
Olson.
We shut down that line, they got one point all
series.
Olson added that the atmosphere surrounding
the team was positive before they even stepped
onto the ice.

was a different vibe, said Olson. They were nervous usually they joke around and keeping it
pretty light, but the Saturday game, you looked
at the guys and you could see that they were focused. We got up on them and we scored the
third goal their team, you could just see in their
body language that they were trying to give it
their all but (they) played a lot of hockey.
He found this team more unique than past ones
as there was a closer bond amongst the players
that made it a special group to coach to a championship.
It was a great group of kids, parents, all the
way around one of the most enjoyable years that
Ive had and this caps it all off, said Olson.
For many players on the Chiefs it was a chance
at redemption.
There were 14 of these kids that played bantam
double-A together a few years a go and they went
to the finals and lost Game 5, said Olson. That
was brought up quite a few times by a bunch of
them that they didnt want that to happen again.
Olson is retiring from coaching due to personal
and work commitments, after coaching for over
10 seasons in the Wheatland organization.

The Rocky Mountain Raiders bantam

triple-A team is ready to end the season
on the right note as they prepare for
the Western Canadian Bantam Championship in Winnipeg from April 2-5.
For five Strathmore area players, this
has been a memorable time being on
the most successful Raider squad in
franchise history.
The season went unreal this year, its
a great group of guys that work hard on
and off the ice, said right winger Joel
Krahenbil. (We) really got together as
a team at the end there and had a great
playoff push and ended up winning it,
Krahenbil felt that the team peaked
at the right time and were able to come
together as a team and battle through
off nights as the playoffs wore on.
We started off strong and took a few
games off in the playoffs but when it
really mattered we clamped down and
won when we had to, said Krahenbil.
He added that the team probably
played their most complete game in
the league championship finals fifth
and deciding game.
Id say our Game 5 there was one of
our strongest all-around games, said
Krahenbil. I like to be a two-way forward, like to help out my own end and
contribute offensively every now and
then and just play a complete game.
His favourite part about playing for
the Raiders program so far has been
winning the league.
Defenseman Cole Clayton has been
known to jump up in the rush and contribute offensively but likes to stay responsible in his own end.
I think its a part of our game is twoway hockey. We come back hard and
go down just as hard, Clayton.
He felt that the team play has been
dominant so far this playoff season and
really praised his teammates for notching it up a gear when it mattered.
We played really good hockey the
first three rounds and in the finals in
the first four games we did what we
needed to do to win but it was what
we did in Game 5, said Clayton. We
went out there and everyone was playing good, got ice time and it was just an
all around team effort.
Clayton added that his role has been
mainly to defend well in front of his
net, chip in offensively and help on the
power play.
First-year defenseman Kelton Travis
has relished every opportunity with
the Raiders, considering he was playing bantam Tier 1 hockey a season ago.
It definitely was a massive jump,
the tempo changed a lot. I was able
to make the jump and get with it and
ended up being a big impact on this
team as long as everyone else was,
said Travis.
I came in not knowing if I was going to make the team and everything,
once I went out I knew I could play as
hard as I could.
For Travis winning the league it was
an indescribable feeling.
It felt amazing being with the team
and win the league, it was just such a
big celebration, said Travis.
Throughout the postseason, Travis
felt hes stacked up well against other teams top lines and has done well
against them.
Left winger Lucas Muenchrath has
been really impressed with how the
team has been able to gel during the
playoffs.
We all got along really well, said
Muenchrath. Our coaches are phenomenal, theyve helped us improve
a lot and every player on our team is
improving game-by-game, they all get
a fair amount of ice time.
Tyler Strath admits he had slow start,
but was able come into his own through
the season and into the playoffs.
After the New Year I played to my
full potential and started scoring goals,
getting more assists, said Strath. Its
intense but exciting at same time because you go into a game not knowing
whats going to happen but just play
your hardest every shift.
Strath added that what he is looking
forward to the most is putting his skills
to the test against the top players in
western Canada at the championships.
Meanwhile, the Rocky Mountain bantam female Raiders were not so lucky
as they fell to the Edmonton Lightning in third and deciding game in the
league final 2-1 March 29 on home ice.
Obviously to lose two out of the
three games in overtime means youre
in it right to the end, unfortunately we
got ourselves into penalty trouble and
ended up losing a close one, said head
coach Jordan Fenton.
Positives are the team played well
5-on-5. Edmonton couldnt match our
speed and our ability to play and late in
the game they went on the powerplay
and tied it up and another one in overtime and scored on it.
Fenton felt that the three Strathmore
players played well and made an impact while they were on the ice.
I think Karissa Hammond and
Emma Borbandy, we called on them to
play some pretty tough minutes against
their top line and both battled very
well. Karissa is a girl that there is no
quit in her and she battled extremely
hard all the time and plays well positional and Emmas the same and works
extremely hard, said Fenton.
Erin Fargey gave us an opportunity
in all three games to win. When she
was needed she kept us in it.
Fenton would like to wish all three
girls the best of luck in their future
hockey endeavors.

Perform service calls in the field or other Town facilities
Complete precision work and solve problems with/under the direction of the heavy duty
mechanic
Be actively involved in the preventative and corrective maintenance of systems and
projects within the Town
