Text: World of Chemistry
Course Description:
Students discover and understand the basic concepts of chemistry, focusing primarily on
the characteristics of matter and how it interacts with the world. Laboratory experiments,
lectures, and technology-based assignments will be used to further the understanding of
concepts. The primary topics of the class include: matter, atoms, elements, periodic table,
reactions, solutions, equilibrium, acids and bases, and measurements.
Class Goals:
For students to develop an understanding of matter and how it reacts. Students should
also understand proper laboratory etiquette and understand the basics of lab reports. They
should develop investigative and problem-solving skills in experimental settings.

Requirements:
Tests/quizzes
Two class projects
