I stumbled across your advertisement searching for a caregiver for your children. I spoke with
your assistant, Shanna, earlier this past week, and I am hopeful for an opportunity to meet you
and your children. As a part-time college students and part-time employee, I am a consistently
reliably individual with ample experience in taking care of children. I also had the opportunity to
live abroad and, as a result, speak fluent Spanish.
Your ad states that Ideal nanny will be interactive, engaging, educated, and creative. I am
currently studying at Arizona State University, and my major is Educational Studies. Im
currently in my third semester of school and am hoping to graduate by the summer of 2019. As
of right now, I have a eighteen credit semester underway, and I am learning excellent time
management as a result.
I have also been an active volunteer in my church as I have lead Sunday school for the past
several months. It falls on me to plan the lessons, craft, and snack for the week. Creativity is
essential. As a father of two, Im sure you know who energetic kids can be. Its an enjoyable
challenge to manage a classroom of children with ages ranging from two to ten years. More
often than not, I find myself playing house or tag with my class. Engaging with my students is
the best way to communicate how much I care for them. From dolls and dress up with three
year old Jasmine to playing catch and kickball with Tosh, I would engage in the same way in a
caregiver role.
I have also been employed at Starbucks for two years now. Although this job doesnt involve
working with children, it shows that I have a commitment to my place of employment. Not only
have I done my job, but I have displayed the qualities of a leader and have gone above and
beyond on a regular basis. This is shown by my recent promotion from barista to shift
supervisor. Despite being a sleep-loving college student, early mornings are no stranger to me
as 4:30 am is the opening shift at Starbucks. I am a reliable individual who has yet to show up
late in her two years of employment with the company; I assure you that I will show the same
consistency as a caregiver.
Grace Christian Academy also gave me a phenomenal opportunity to teach Spanish Exploratory
2 at the fifth through eighth grade levels. Utilizing my Spanish, I taught young students to read
and write in a language they previously only spoke. Using this experience, I would be able to
help your son, Tosh, with homework as most of it is in Spanish.
Having spent a year abroad will also allow me to remove English from my vocabulary around
your children in order to help them gain fluency in a second language. As Tosh is in a Spanish
emersion school, my own immersion in the language gives me the knowledge to help with
homework. However, not having spoken the language since birth, I have the advantage of
having studied it in school as well as my immersion. Therefore, not only can I say with certainty
that I now the answer, but I have tools to explain why its right as well.
With these qualifications, I feel as though I am a caretaker that is educated, engaging, and
creative as your ad says you are looking for. Please feel free to email me at
askorzew@asu.edu, or give me a call at 920-788-8999. Thank you so much for your time and
consideration. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Abigail Skorzewski
