This table shows the total deposits held by scheduled banks in India from 2002 to 2017. Deposits increased each year, reaching Rs. 11.2 trillion in December 2017, up from Rs. 1.5 trillion in December 2002. The largest monthly increase was seen in June. Deposits generally peaked in December and were lowest earlier in the year in January or February. Overall there was steady growth in deposits held by scheduled banks over the 15 year period presented in the table.
