Exp Methods in Struct Engg

This 3 credit hour course introduces experimental methods in structural engineering. It covers topics like test planning, model preparation, loading systems, instrumentation, data acquisition, and processing. Students will learn static and dynamic testing techniques as well as modal testing and nondestructive methods. The course provides an overview of laboratory work and hands-on applications using testing and computing equipment like NI LabVIEW. It is graded based on a final exam, midterm, assignments, and lecture and lab attendance.

SPECIAL TOPICS- EXPERIMENTAL METHODS IN STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING

MSc Structural Engineering

Fall 2017 Credit hours=3
Dr. Mohammad Adil

OBJECTIVES:
This course is intended to introduce students to experimental methods, test planning, model
preparation, loading systems, instrumentation, data acquisition and data processing. The course
covers aspects of static and structural dynamics problems. Advance methods of testing will include
hybrid techniques for substructure testing which combine simultaneous physical and numerical
simulations. New testing methods of complex structural systems will be presented. Elements of
modal testing and nondestructive methods will be introduced. The course provides an overview of
laboratory work and is complemented with several “hands-on” applications in laboratory using testing
and computing equipment. NI LabVIEW software will also be introduced in this course
