and tch.

 Flash Cards
 Triangular Pencil/Jumbo Mongol Pencil
 Writing Notebook
 Crayons (16)

IV. Lesson Proper:

1. Prayer
2. Ice Breaker (optional)

Instruction/s: Review sounds and CVC words. For vowel sounds, learners
should say the letter name and sounds. Review blending and segmenting
CVC words. Introduce the CVCC pattern by reviewing each letter sound
separately. Provide words for the CVCC pattern for mastery.

For consonant digraphs sh, ch, and tch. Introduce one digraph such as sh,
by reviewing each letter separately. Teach the pupil that when these
letters appear at the beginning or end of a word.

Say: Listen s and h are together in a word, they make a new sound /sh/.
What sound does sh make? After teaching the digraph, use other letters to
model blending with other sounds to make words.

STEP 1 | Communication Skills Development

Summer Learning 2019
Example: Write a and p after sh to form shop. Point to sh and say /sh/ say
/o/ then slide your finger stetching out the sounds until you point to p. Point
to other letters as you blend the sounds. Digraphs counts only one sound.
Repeat the sequence with other words, gradually reducing your modelling
to give pupils greater independence. Introduce new diagraph sounds after
the pupils master each sound. Follow the same step.
