Unit 5: CVC Words
Assessments
Pre-Assessment
•At the beginning of the unit, test each student using the pre-
assessment form.
•For the blending: have the students read the words using the
assessment flashcards. Mark the words that they are able to
read correctly, without help.
•For the spelling: Say the word. Students will stretch the word
and then spell it out. Students may use a whiteboard or piece of
paper to help them spell.
•This will help you plan for the unit, help form center groups and
identify which students may need additional help or be challenged.
Exit Tickets
•There are four exit tickets for your students to complete as a
quick check to see how they are progressing in the unit.
•Each student will get an exit ticket and follow the directions on
it. They do these independently and you add their score to the
assessment form. You can choose to read the words out loud, if
the students do not know what the picture is.
Informal Assessments- Activity
•Choose a center activity to complete in centers or as a whole
group.
•Each student will have a turn and then check off whether or not
they did it correctly.
Post- Assessment
•At the end of the unit, test each student using the post-
assessment form, following the same format as pre-assessment.
•Use the pre-assessment, exit tickets, and post-assessment as
data for each student or as a grade on their report card.
