Subject –Basics of Electrical Engineering (EEI101)

Branch – I Sem, B.Tech. (Common)

1.a) State Thevenin’s theorem and draw the Thevenin’s equivalent circuit.

Ans
1.b) Determine the current i through the 16Ω resistor by using Thevenin’s theorem.

Ans
2.a) State Norton’s theorem and draw the Norton’s equivalent circuit.
Ans

2.b) Find the Norton’s equivalent of the network across the terminals a, b.
Ans

3.a) State and prove maximum power transfer theorem.

3.b) Determine the maximum power dissipated by the resistor R from the dc source.
Ans
4.a) State superposition theorem.

Ans

4.b) With sources iA and vB on in the circuit and vC=0 and ix=20 A; with iA and vC on and vB=0, ix=5 A;
and finally, with all the three sources on, ix=12 A. Find ix if the only source operating is (a) iA ;
(b) vB; (c) vC; (d) also find ix if iA and vC are doubled in amplitude and vB is reversed.
5. Use mesh analysis to find ix in the circuit.

Ans

6. Use nodal analysis to determine V1 and power being supplied by the dependent current source in
the circuit.
