5. A balanced Star-connected load of (8+j6) Ω per phase is connected to a 3-phase, 230 V supply. Find
the line current, power factor, power, reactive Volt-Amperes and total Volt-Amps.

6. A balanced star connected load is supplied from a symmetrical 3 phase, 400 V system. The current
in each phase is 30 A and lags 30 behind the phase voltage.
(a) Find the phase voltage, (b) The total power.

7. A balanced Delta- connected load of (8+j6) Ω per phase is supplied from a 3-phase 440 V source.
Find the line current, power factor, power per phase and total power.
Answer: IL = 76.21 A, p.f. = 0.8, power/phase = 15.488 kW, Total power = 46.464 kW
8. A balanced, 3-phase, star connected load of 150 kW takes a leading current of 100 A, with a line
voltage of 1100 V at 50 Hz. Find the circuit constants of the load per phase.
Answer: R = 5 Ω and C = 813.175 µF
9. Determine the parameters of a series RLC circuit that will resonate at 10 kHz, have a bandwidth of 1
kHz, and draw 15.3 W from a 200 V generator operating at the resonance frequency of the circuit.
Answer: R = 2.61 kΩ, L = 416 mH and C = 610 pF
10. A series RLC circuit has a Qs of 5.1 at its resonance frequency of 100 kHz. Assuming the power
dissipation of the circuit is 100 W when drawing a current of 0.80 A, determine the circuit parameter
and bandwidth of the circuit.
Answer: R = 156 Ω, L = 1.26 mH, C = 2.01 nF and BW = 19.6 kHz
11. A 60 V source supplies a parallel circuit consisting of a 2.5 µF capacitor and a coil whose resistance
and inductance are 260 mH and 15 Ω, respectively. Determine the resonance frequency.
Answer: 197 Hz
12. A circuit consisting of a capacitor in parallel with a coil, whose inductance and resistance are 1.05
mH and 100 Ω respectively, is driven at its resonance frequency of 600 kHz from a constant current
source. The source consists of a 2.30 mA 600 kHz constant current generator in parallel with a 60
kΩ source resistance. Determine (a) Qcoil and (b) capacitance.
Answer: (a) Qcoil = 39.58 (b) C = 67 pF
