Example of A Blog - Purposive Communication

Maria Elline S. Ayson shares her experiences from November 29, 2018 in a blog post. She wakes up tired and decides to go to school early. At school she feels uncertain about the day ahead but finds comfort in a J.R.R. Tolkien poem about all hardships coming to an end. Later she watches a TV show at a friend's house, feeling grateful for small comforts. She arrives home in the evening, listening to music and reflecting on her day. In the end, she drifts off to sleep comforted by the knowledge that all difficulties must pass, quoting again from Tolkien that "all woods must fail."

A DAY IN A LIFE___ MY LIFE IN A

DAY______________________________.

November 29, 2018 (Thursday)

•••••06:06•••••
My waking was not a serene one, I felt extremely tired but needed to wake, so I
woke.

•••••08:38•••••
For my waking was terrible, I decided to go to school early, not that I have anything
major to do considering today is the final day of my college's U Days (University
Days)). I blinked my eyes as the sunlight hit my face on the jeep ride towards my
college and I thought of the day that lay ahead; it frightened me a bit, the uncertainness.
Not knowing what the hours, minutes, and seconds will hold, yet I cannot do anything
about it. The day wants to pass, it has to, needs to, and what better thing to do now than
to let it so and enjoy the moment with a poem?
I am currently sitting in one of the blue tables of the "big canteen" overlooking some
booths that the students have put up for the event. I see them bustling around getting
ready to provide for their customers...and I put my earphones on. I browse my phone
for my "poem of the day" and I stumbled upon an author, J.R.R. Tolkien, and his poem,
"All Wood Must Fail".
" ALL WOODS MUST FAIL"
- O! Wanderers in the shadowed land
Despair not! For though dark they
stand,
All woods there be must end at last,
The poem is right, surely l should not despair for though the day has its adversities,
there will come a time when all adversities will be no more, so will not worry about the
rest of the day for now...I will crawl towards something else now, but what?

•••••12:00•••••
I found nothing exciting to do at school, so now I am at my friend's boarding house,
watching a tv series on her laptop.
- And see the open sun go past:
The setting sun, the rising sun,
It is half of the day now, I've been through boredom, sadness, and joy till I got to
this point. Now I think about my experiences as the sun moved its way through the
skies, and my thoughts focus on my friends and family. There are times that I strongly
hate them and times that I extremely love them. They are the ones that are the closest to
me as a person and even though my relationship with them had some rough patches, I
believe that these are bonds that will live through time, forever.
And so I am grateful for my friend and her tv show. They allow me to stand on my
two feet and bring me comfort in my most tiring half-a-day.

•••••19:07•••••
I have arrived home and I am lying on my bed. I increse the volume of my music. I
close my eyes but do not sleep; I try to remember my day. Did I live alright? Did I live
good? Did I live it as I would have for myself?
- The day's end, or the day begun.
For east or west all woods must
fail.
Remembering brings me happiness and sadness, but that is only natural; it is ok.
What is not, is holding on to our regrets. I have let them go as I dragged my wizened
body to bed earlier.

•••••00:00•••••
I have walked my final journey for this day. I stumbled a bit, but I still got up and
that is the most important thing. I still lay in my bed, lights out, the darkness envelopes
me. Now, I close my eyes and slowly drift to sleep.
And as I near a pitch black that I will never escape from, I breathed a sigh, my last
sigh.
"Indeed, all woods must fail," I thought, my last thought.
