STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

​I am a final year student in PSG COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY affiliated to ANNA


UNIVERSITY, CHENNAI, INDIA graduating with B.E. (CSE) in MAY 2008.

My Background
My interest towards Computers started since my childhood as my father had been
working in that line for over 30 years. Throughout my school career, I consistently maintained
excellent academic records. This helped me in getting admitted to the prestigious institution of
PSG College of Technology. I have learned to work against time, use my imaginative skills and
apply concepts to real world situations in my high school in order to achieve my dream
institution. I have carried this same hard work in order to join your university.
I strongly believe that learning is not confined within the four walls of the classrooms. I have
always tried to apply my learning in an experimental way. One such experiment in my high
school was trying to conduct desalination in my house. This practice had let to my paper on
“Automated Traffic Signals - using Knowledge Based Systems” under the guidance of my
professor and mentor Dr. R. Venkatesan. I have done numerous projects in the fields of
Networks, Database Management and Operating Systems. One of my projects namely “Hospital
Management System” is a live project and is still being used in VEGA ENT Hospital,
Coimbatore (Tamilnadu – India)

My Career Goals:​
I would like to be a Manufacturing Professional and want to work extensively on CAD/CAM,
Computer Integrated Manufacturing Technologies and Industrial Robotics. In five years, I hope
to gain lots of experience and possibly more back to academics for my PhD in the same.

My purpose of graduate study


In the middle of my UG course I realized that pursuing higher studies is of great
importance both to my career and my knowledge. In order to explore the field of Computer
Science, to acquire an in depth knowledge and to stay ahead in this highly competitive world, it
is important for me to do my MS in the field of computer science.

Why North Carolina State University?


I​ have always aimed for the best things in my life including my school and
undergraduate college. I have visited your university website and am greatly excited and
determined to grab an opportunity in a highly respectable university such as yours.

Conclusion
​I am confident that I have the necessary potential and the talent to get admitted for
higher studies in your university and given an opportunity I will definitely prove it.
