Not sure if you know this
But when we first met
I got so nervous, I couldn’t speak
In that very moment
I found the one and
My life had found its missing piece

So as long as I live I love you
Will have and hold you
You look so beautiful in white
And from now ‘til my very last breath
This day I’ll cherish
You look so beautiful in white…tonight
III
What we have is timeless
My love is endless
And with this ring I
Say to the world
You’re my every reason

Lesson Employing Analytical Listening in
1 Problem solving

Every day, we encounter several problems that need to be solved. One best way on
how we can address these problems is through applying analytical listening
strategy. This will help us quickly see logical connections and detect possible gaps
in the information and communication process.

What is It

What is Analytical Listening?

According to an article by Patty Mulder published on August 19, 2019, analytical

listening is about the ability and the capacity to properly analyze what is being
said. This not only means understanding what the other person is saying and what
they mean to say, but also being able to divide difficult questions into separate
parts in order to get the central idea. Its objective is to quickly see logical
connections as well as determining possible gaps in communication.

Analytical listening uses the process of listening, summarizing, and digging

deeper. The listener looks for the deeper meaning of what is heard. When someone
says something, it is not just about the contents. It is especially the way they say it
that gives meaning to the words.

Analytical listening forms one of the foundations of good decision making. Listening
thoroughly and analytically makes it easier to reconstruct a situation and find
solution rationally. This will then lead to optimal decisions. Complex problems are
more easily understood, meaning a better prediction can be made as to which
solution or method would be best. Moreover, analytical listening helps bring
balance to a conversation and process conversation objectively. Analyses of causes
can be made, after which the consequences of a problem can be better detected as
well. An analytical listener is able to critically look at elements of a problem, collect
a lot of information, then research it. He or she will then make logical connections,
detect actual causes and think of fitting solutions. (toolshero.com) What do you
think? Do you use the analytical listening skill in dealing with problems around
you?

Activity 1. THINK TO SOLVE

A. Analyze It. Directions: Get hold of a newspaper. Read a news article of your
choice. Or watch, or listen to any news broadcast and analyze the content. Then
answer the questions in the table below. Write your answers in your answer sheet.

presented?

happening in your place? Give some
details.

6
In listening to a text such as news we apply skills in analyzing details. Through
this, we learn how to identify problems and what possible solutions can be
undertaken to address such problems.

In analytical listening, we evaluate a message for purposes of accepting or rejecting

it, as when we listen to the sales pitch of a used-car dealer or the campaign speech
of a political candidate. (slideshare.net)

C. Problems and Solutions. Directions: List down at least 5 problems that are
related to our community. Analyze each problem and give/suggest possible
