ALUMNI MEET

Alumni meet of MZCET was held on 29 th April 2018 at 10.00 am. in the college campus. The
meet began with prayer and warm welcome by the Alumni coordinator by Mrs. A. Taksala
Devapriya. More than 150 alumni of MZCET from different places attended.

Mrs. Floarance Jayabarathan, Vice-Chairperson, in her presidential address expressed


happiness on the overwhelming response from the alumni. She delivered a special address on
being flexible and accommodative.

Director, Prof. Jayson K. Jayabarathan, expressed his happiness about the accomplishments
of the college like NAAC accreditation and permanent affiliation status. He also expressed
that alumni can contribute in a big way in taking their alma matter to the next level.

Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal, congratulated the alumni for achieving the heights in their
field of work. He asked the alumni to contribute in enhancing Knowledge and skill domains
of current students by conducting guest lectures, webinars, and seminars. He also thanked the
alumni for their active participation.

Alumni association of the college had shown the video of the institution’s growth in every
aspect.

The alumni from various batches expressed their views about the college, about their status,
accomplishments and the unforgettable reminiscences in the college. Also they conveyed the
necessary skills to get a job in a core company.

Mrs. Rohini, Alumni coordinator, CSE department, proposed the vote of thanks which was
followed by the delicious lunch.

13 TH GRADUATION DAY

UG DRIENTATION ROGRAM

SPORTS DAY (19th Mar 2019)

The 17th annual sports day was held on 19th March, 2019. Mr. K. Anantha
Narayanan, District Sports Officer, Pudukkottai was the chief guest.

The chief Guest, in his address, highlighted that students should spend time in
playing games and doing physical exercises; as these in turn will enable them to
study well and concentrate. He advised the students to plan and give sufficient time
for playing games and physical exercise daily; this attempt will reflect positively in
their academics he said.

The awards and medals were distributed to the winners and Ruby house won the
overall sports Championship for the academic year 2018-2019.

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING

24 hours workshop on Construction practices

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a captivating 24 hours Workshop on


"Construction Practices" for the II year students on 14th August 2018.

24 hours workshop on “Construction Practices for Civil Engineers”

24 hours workshop on “Construction Practices for Civil Engineers” focused on the


sustainable utilization of different construction materials. The highlight of the workshop was
that, the students learnt about the construction of several structures.

24 hours workshop on Rebar Detailing and Bar Bending

The Department of Civil engineering organized a riveting 24 hours Workshop on "REBAR


DETAILING AND BAR BENDING" for the III year students on 21st August 2018.

24 hours workshop was conducted on a site (nursing college) students learned about beams,
columns and footing design. The civil students fabricated and assembled a 3-D building
model.
Mr. Sujin Jose S accompanied the students throughout the workshop period.

Students gained a wide knowledge and were able to fabricate new construction models from
the motivational speech of the faculty member.

Model Making
The Department of Civil Engineering conducted a “Model Making Contest" on 10th
September 2018 for Civil Engineering Department students.

The Model Building Competition had opened entries, pitting teams of undergraduate course
engaged with each other to demonstrate their ability to turn technical knowledge into practice
by explaining the engineering behind models where they had built themselves.

Technical Workshop
The Department of Civil Engineering organized a "Three days" technical workshop on
"STAAD Pro" on 14th February 2019 and 15th March 2019 for the Polytechnic students.

The Basic use of STAAD PRO for Civil Engineers was taught, beam properties were
assigned and results were obtained. Over 120 students attended various institutions during the
3 days workshop.

This workshop was organized by Mount Zion College of Eng. And Tech to provide
experiential learning and project -based learning to the attendees pursuing various
programmes.

This workshop holds a rich curriculum agenda on STAAD PRO. Polytechnic students were
benefited from this workshop conducted by the Civil Department.
Value added course

REVIT ARCHITECTURE

The Department of Civil Engineering organized a value added course on “Revit


Architecture” from 20th September 2019 to 4th October 2019.

The course streamlined the design process through the use of a central 3D model,
where changes were made in one view update across all views and on the print
sheets. This value added course was designed to teach the beginners about the
Autodesk Revit functionality as they would work with it throughout the design
process. Students began learning about the user interface and basic drawing, editing,
and viewing tools. Then they learned the design development tools including how to
model walls, doors, windows, floors, ceilings, stairs and many other things. Finally,
participants learned the process which takes the model to the construction
documentation phase
60 students participated in the course and received the course completion certificate
at the end of the session. Mr.Prabhakaran T was the resource person.

Faculty achievements (Need to Include)


Mr. S Balamurugan Assistant professor Department of Civil Engineering prepared a
plan on “Rain Water Harvesting", Government Middle School, Pudukkottai and
received a cash award of Rs.7500.

DEPARTMENT OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING

CSE Symposium
The day started off with Ms. Sujatha Kumari Chand’s (IVth Year, CSE) welcome address
followed by Mrs. D. Elavarasi, HOD, CSE who introduced the honourable Chief Guest to the
gathering.

Dr Jayson Jayabarathan, Director, and Dr P. Balamurugan, Principal delivered the felicitation


address.

The Chief Guest, in his address, emphasized the role of Data Scientists in our real technical
world. He gave a glimpse of how the real world would look like after we leave our beloved
college on the journey of finding accomplishment.
The vote of thanks by Mr. J. Peter Kester (IV Year, CSE) brought the morning session to the
denouement.

The afternoon session which incorporated many electrifying technical events brought
excitement and thrill in the eyes of the participants. Project Expo, DB Mania, HackFest,
Pixelyse, Lightning Buzz, Paper Quest, and Raspberry Jam were the events conducted during
the “Techquest -19” 14th National Level Technical Symposium. DB Mania appeared to be
the centre of attraction amongst the participants. Seventy-five engineering students from
various Engineering Colleges all over Tamil Nadu participated in the events.

Winners of the events were honoured with prizes and awards in the valedictory function.

IT Quiz (remove previous content)


Computer Society of India - Student Chapter was inaugurated on 27th July 2018. “IT Quiz”
was the contest carried out during the inauguration. Mrs. D. Elavarasi, HOD, CSE welcomed
the dignitaries and participants.

Fifty students contested in the event. The hard work amongst them was awarded prizes
during the valedictory function.

Dr. Jayson K Jayabarathan , Director, Mrs. Vivian Rachel Jayson, Academic Coordinator,
and Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal graced the occasion with their presence throughout the
day.

Herald Robinson, Chandramanikandan, Mercy Serlin, and Gayathri A. were announced as


office bearers of the chapter by the CSI Coordinator. Ms. Sangeetha, CSI Coordinator
conveyed her gratitude to the gathering through her vote of thanks.

Code Debugging (remove old contents)


To celebrate Engineer’s Day 2018, the Department of Computer Science and Engineering
conducted a “Code Debugging and Student’s Colloquium” on 10th September 2018.
Event Coordinator, Mrs. Taksala Devapriya monitored the events where students of the
department participated. Students Colloquium embraced the speaking skills of the students.
Prizes and certificates were awarded to the brave champions.

At the end of the day, participants of the event gave wholesome positive feedbacks that the
“Code Debugging” event improved their logical skills and problem-solving skills to develop
well efficient algorithms.

During the valedictory function, the participants thanked the organizing committee and the
department for organizing such a real-world applicable event.

24 hours Workshop on Data Structure


B. Senthil Raja Manokar coordinated the event entirely. Eighty-four students participated
actively.

The workshop focused on developing a sense of awareness of the time and space
complexities of algorithms. Keeping the time and space complexities of algorithms, different
sorting and traversal techniques were demonstrated.

The students, through the workshop, we’re able to experiment on real-time problems
allowing them to learn and understand the concepts revolving around Data Structure.

During dinner time delicious South-Indian and North-Indian culinary were arranged for the
students.

To bring a sense of optimism and to create a refreshed mind, various enjoyable events like
volleyball, chess, laughing, etc., were conducted over for 24 hours.

24 hours Worksop on Internet Programming


Dr. N. Jagadeesh coordinated the 24 hours workshop entirely. Seventy-eight students
participated in this journey of improving their web developing skills.
The workshop aimed was to first develop the students with the skill of designing interactive
and attractive user interfaces which at the end had the goal of handling data, allowing the
front end design to interact with the backend database.

The workshop focused on topics like HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JavaScript, XML, Jquery,
Ajax, and PHP.

Numerous sessions of Interactive Quiz were organized during the workshop thereby
showcasing the student’s understanding of the topic.

At the end of the day, students were enriched with deep knowledge of websites and database
designs.

Students cherished every moment of learning they went through during the 24 hours
workshop.

24 hours Workshop on Python Programming


Mrs. Rohini.P monitored the 24 hours workshop which aimed to develop the Python
Programming skills of the students participating in the event. A total of eighty-eight students
took an enthusiastic part in developing their abilities.

The workshop demonstrated the building blocks of Python Programming Language through
the interactive discussion.
Various assignments, selection statements and control statements enrolled the students to
become familiar on the topic. Based on the level of student’s understanding, they were
separated into groups and special individual mentors were assigned to the individual groups.
This exercise improved their overall understanding of the subject.

The new techniques and skills they gained, interactive sessions they had, and the delicious
culinary they enjoyed brought smiles on their faces in the dusk of the day.

Guest Lecture
The guest speaker spoke with the participating students on various topics namely, Planar
Graph, Partition of Integers, Method of Generating Functions, and Recurrence Relation.

The enthusiasm showed by the students deeply motivated the guest speaker in sharing more
valuable knowledge that is seldom disclosed, being the highlight of the day. Students got in-
depth knowledge from the resource person on the topic discussed upon.

Poster Presentation
Mrs. Subashni, AP CSE coordinated the event. 15 students from the department participated.
Though the students had limited time to draw and prepare during the competition, the results
were unimaginably beautiful, every curve of their drawings shouted out the thoughts in their
deep minds. All the participants submitted creative posters with mind-punching slogans.

Mrs. D. Elavarasi who acted as the judge for the event did have a difficult time deciding the
“Best” because all the posters were above the benchmark “Best”. The students were
encouraged with the participation certificate and winners were awarded prizes.

One day workshop on Mobile Application Development (remove the old content)

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering and CSI student chapter jointly
organized a one day workshop on “Mobile Application Development” on 31st December
2018.
Mrs. D. Elavarasi, HOD introduced the resource person, Mr. Ashish Emmanuel, Software
Engineer at Infineon Technologies, Bangalore to the participants.
The resource person taught the participating students about the role of mobile applications in
the upcoming era. He focused on hybrid application development. He showcased various live
mobile apps in the market that uses internet technologies to provide seamless services to
users. He, in the beginning, taught the students about simple yet attractive UI design, later
gave them in-depth knowledge about back-end connections with the remote server.
His friendly way of interaction and approach made the students keener on the hands-on
training session.
At the end of the day, all of the students were ready with an application that had a beautiful
UI and a simple connection with the database.
During the valedictory function, all the participants were awarded certificates, a sign of
appreciation for their hard work.
Mrs. A. Sangeetha, CSI Coordinator coordinated the program and adjourned the workshop
with her gracious thanking note.

Value Added Course


Cross- Platform Mobile App Development Using Phone Gap Tool

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering organized a Value Added Course on
“Cross -Platform Mobile App Development uses Phone Gap Tool” from 3rd October
2019 to 5th October 2019.

The course curriculum focuses on various stages of application the Phone Gap Tool
Framework.
After the completion of the course, assignments with problem statements were handed over to
individual students, for successfully completing their assignments, the students were
appreciated and received optimistic compliments from the mentors.

Sixty-five students participated in the course and received the Course Completion Certificate
at the end of the program. Mr. N. Jagadeesh and Ms. S. Reka were the responsible resource
persons.

Raspberry Pi Training
Mrs. A. Sangeetha and Ms. S. Subhasini, Assistant Professor of CSE Department conducted a
Value Added Course on “Raspberry Pi”.
The course focused on developing several microcontroller applications using Arduino
Programming IDE and Python 3. The participants were taught the use of various pins and
equipments in the controller.
During the closing session, concerned resource persons displayed the working of real- world
projects developed based on microcontrollers. The concept of the Internet of Things was also
introduced.
The participants were assigned unique projects related to the domain which they completed
over time and submitted to their respective mentors.
During the feedback session, the Participants of the course thanked the Department of
Computer Science and Engineering for the smooth conduct of the course.

Visual Studio Programming

“Visual Studio Programming” was a Value Added Course organized by the Department of
Computer Science and Engineering from 3rd July 2019 to 5th July 2019. Ms. M. Ramadevi
and Ms. K. Priya were the resource persons who monitored the smooth functioning of the
course.

Seventy students took part in the course and were very much benefitted.
The course Curriculum focused on Desktop Application Development with a valid
connection to the database using various components belonging to Microsoft. The course
introduced the various components of Visual Studio and enlightened the students with the
MVC architecture and other rich controls in Microsoft supported technologies.

In the closing session, students were assigned with responsibilities of developing their own
Windows Application and connecting them to remote databases. Course Completion
Certificates were distributed on completion of the assignments.

TECHINCAL SYMPOSIUM

TECHQUEST 2020

“TECHQUEST 2020”, 15th National Level Technical Symposium was organized by the
Department of Computer Science and Engineering on 6th March 2020. Mr. Markandan
Maharajan, CEO of Shrewd Business Solutions, Coimbatore was the Chief guest .The
program commenced with the Lord’s Prayer by Demita Sofia,student final year B.E CSE.
The chief guest Mr. Markandan was introduced to the gathering by Mrs. D. Elavarasi,
HOD/CSE.
In the felicitation address Dr. Jayson k Jayabharathan , Director and Dr P. Balamurugan, the
Principal appreciated the efforts of the department for organizing this great event and they
expressed their heartly welcome and wishes to the participants of Techquest 2020.

Most enthusiastic movement of the day was the chief guest’s speech. The Chief Guest shared
his personal experience with the audience about the startup of new the company. Guest had
addressed various responsibilities of the youngsters in the digital world and national building.
The speech was highly motivating to the students and an eye- opening session for their
career.

The forenoon session come to an end with the vote of thanks proposed by Ms. A. Gowsalya,
student final year B.E CSE. Various events like Presentation, Questionario, Unlink 1337,
Progetto, Codemet, Angry bird were conducted in the TECHQUEST 2020. Overall more than
70 students participated in different events from various engineering colleges of Tamil Nadu.

The Chief Guest awarded prizes and certificates to the winners in the valedictory function.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRONICS AND COMMUNICATION ENGINEERING

24- Hours workshop

The Department of Electronics and communication Engineering organized a 24 hour


workshop on “Ardunio and its application” for the B.E 3rd year students on 21st August, 2018.

The 24 hours workshop on “Ardunio and its application” focused on the basic of ardunio
and its wide application in real time. The students learned about the software description,
installation of the software and various sensors were which are associated with them. At the
end of the workshop students trained to do ardunio based mini projects.

Value added course

The Department of ECE organized a value added course on Robotics for the third year ECE
students which were scheduled from 08.01.2019 to 10.01.2019 to impart the knowledge about
the robotics using embedded c-language. The basic of spark “V” and fire bird 5 robotics kit
where taught. More than 20 students attended and learned how to interface sensors, I/O
devices, and switches.

Circuit Wizard
The Department of ECE organized “Circuit Wizard” for 1st year students from 28.01.2019 to
31.01.2019.

The value added on circuit wizard was focused on analyzing the DC circuit, design and
analysis of the electronics circuit and evaluating the behavior of electronics circuit. The
students could learn the way of relating AC models of semi conductor devices with the
physical significance.

Circuit and PCB design using Proteus simulation

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized a value added


course on “Circuit and PCB design using Proteus simulation” for B.E 2 nd year students from
01.07.2019 to 03.07.2019. It was organized by Mr. R. Arunkumar and Mr. Mareeshwaran.
More than 35 students have attended and received certificates

The students were made aware that The Proteus Design Suite combines ease of use with a
powerful feature set to enable the rapid design, test and layout of professional printed circuit
boards

The course was focused on design PCB for analog circuits, digital circuits and mixed circuits,
design and analysis the electronics circuit and evaluating the behavior of electronics circuit.
The students learned the PCB design process and the process of transmission lines and cross
talk.

At the end of the course students understood that the PCB design may be complex, but it is
quite possible to design good boards with a little technique and practice.

ROBOTICS

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering organized value added


course on “ROBOTICS” for 3rd and 4th year students from 03.10.2019 to 04.10.2019. It was
organized by Mrs.G. Senthamilselvi and Mr. Mareeshwaran. More than 120 students have
attended the course and received certificates

The students were made aware that the ‘the ease of use of robotics for electronics and
semiconductors has increased tremendously which has reduced installation times and total
cost of implementing robotic solutions and the students also learned that the electronic
devices become more sophisticated, the need for a more advanced assembly process naturally
follows. That increased level of sophistication is a perfect fit for robotics. “The proliferation
of sensory input such as vision has created intelligent robotic solution. Elaborate and
expensive fixtures were required to get electronic components and sub-assemblies into a
precise location for a robot to pick, manipulate, assemble, and then package a part.

ECE –STATE LEVEL IETE STUDENT CONVENTION - 2018

The day started off with Ms. P.Geetha Chand’s (IVth Year, ECE) welcome address followed
by Dr. S.Robinson, HOD, ECEwho introduced the honorable Chief Guest Dr.
SwarnaRavindraBabu, chairman,IETE Chennai to the gathering. 

Dr. Jayson Jayabarathan, Director, and Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal delivered the
felicitation address.

The Chief Guest, in his address gave a glimpse of how the real world would look like after
we leave our beloved college on the journey of finding accomplishment. 

The vote of thanks by Ms. Selvapriya (IV Year, ECE) brought the morning session to the
denouement.

The afternoon session which incorporated many electrifying technical events brought
excitement and thrill in the eyes of the participant. Technical quiz, circuit debugging, project
expo, multimedia were the events conducted during the “STATE LEVEL IETE STUDENT
CONVENTION. Circuit debugging appeared to be the center of attraction amongst the
participants. More than 60 students from various Engineering Colleges all over Tamil Nadu
participated in the events. 

Winners of the events were honored with prizes and awards in the valedictory function.

ECE –STATE LEVEL IETE STUDENT CONVENTION -2019

The day started off with welcome address followed by Dr. S.Robinson, HOD, ECE who
introduced the honorable Chief GuestDr.kaliyaPerumal, Cambridge University, Canada to the
gathering. 

Dr. Jayson Jayabarathan, Director, and Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal delivered the
felicitation address.
The Chief Guest revealed to the students that learning is not attained by chance. It is accrued
slowly by disciplined students who invest in the process with sincerity and diligence. A
student can best be described as a person whose thirst for knowledge remains unquenched.

The afternoon session which incorporated many electrifying technical events brought
excitement and thrill in the eyes of the participant. Technical quiz, circuit debugging, project
expo, multimedia were the events conducted during the “STATE LEVEL IETE STUDENT
CONVENTION. Project expo appeared to be the center of attraction among the participants.
More than 60 students from various Engineering Colleges all over Tamil Nadu participated in
the events.

EEE Department Events

24 Hour Workshop

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a riveting 24 hours


Workshop on "Arduino and Its Applications" for the II year B.E students on 12 TH SEPTEMBER
2018.

24 hours workshop focused on the basics of arduino and its wide application in real time.
The students learned about the software description, installation of the software and
various sensors which are associated with them. At the end of the workshop students were
trained to do arduino based mini projects.

PAPER PRESENTAION

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering organized a “Technical Paper


Presentation” on 10th September, 2018 for all the students. Nearly, 60 students presented
their ideas on recent trends. All the participants received their participation certificate from
the Head of the department, EEE.

Technical Workshop

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a technical workshop


on “circuit wizard” on 14th Feb 2019 and 15th March 2019 for polytechnic students.

The workshop focused on analyzing DC circuits, design and analyze the electronic circuit and
evaluating the behavior of electronic circuit. The students learned the way of relating AC
models of semi conductor devices with the physical significance.

2019-2020
VALUE ADDED COURSES

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a value added course
on “Electrical Safety and Maintenance” from 08 th July 2019 to 10 th July 2019 for II Year
students. It was organized by Mr. A Dencil Infant and Ms. S Raga Brintha. Nearly 33
students participated and received their participation certificates. The value added course
focused on review of IE rules in electrical safety, in agricultural installations, safety during
operations and maintenance. The session ends with student’s feedback in the valedictory

The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a value added course
on “Digital Logic and Embedded Systems” from 08th July 2019 to 10th July 2019 for III Year
B.E students. It was organized by Mr. R Muthukumar and Mrs. B Priya. Nearly 66 students
participated and received their participation certificates. The value added course focused
on PLC Program, Arduino Promini, Hands on session on Interfacing. The students gave a
very good feedback in the valedictory session.

The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering conducted a value added course
on “Estimation and costing of electrical wiring” from 23 rd September 2019 to 25h September
2019 for the B.E Final Year students. It was organized by Mrs. S Jeberlin Goldy and Ms. S
Vasantha Veni. Nearly 36 students participated and received their participation certificates.
The value added course focused on review of Automatic Inverter/UPS Wiring, Series and
Parallel Wiring. Session ended the students gave very good feedback in the valedictory
session.

DEPARTMENT OF ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING

DEPARTMENT OF MACHANICAL ENGINEERING

Technical Workshop on SOLIDWORKS

Mr. L. Mamundi Azaath coordinated the Technical workshop. The polytechnic students
participated in the process of improving their designing skills. This Technical Workshop
was conducted for two days on 14th February 2019 and 15th March 2019.

The aim of the workshop was to first develop the students with the foundation skills of
designing and covers the fundamentals of SOLID WORKS. It covers the basic concepts
and conventions of SOLIDWORKS .This workshop helps to identify the commands which
are suitable for their complicated designs as well as modeling their ideas.

The workshop focused on the in-depth coverage of Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Linear
Dynamic Analysis, Non-linear Dynamic Analysis, Fatigue, Computational Fluid Dynamics
(CFD), Manufacturability of injection molded parts, Heat transfer, and Modal analysis.

Numerous sessions of Interactive Quiz were organized during the workshop thereby
showcasing the student’s understanding of the topic.

At the end of the day, students were coupled with deep knowledge of CFD and FEA
designs.

Value Added Course

Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Value Added Course on


“Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing” from 19th September 2019 to 9thOctober2019.

The course curriculum focuses on various stages of Geometric Dimensioning and


Tolerancing (GD&T) for defining and communicating engineering tolerances. It uses
a symbolic language on engineering drawings and computer-generated three-dimensional
solid models that explicitly describe nominal geometry and its allowable variation.

Twenty students participated in this course and received their Course Completion
Certificate at the end of the program. Mr. S. Sakthivelu and Mr. S. Raguraman were the
resource persons.

24 hours Workshop on Automata 18

Mr. G. Parameshwara Raja, Department of Mechanical Engineering coordinated the event


under the caption “24 hours Workshop on Automata 18” on 14 th August 2018 and 20th
August 2018.

The concept of Automata theory of machines in the workshop is called “Automata 18”.
Automation is relatively a study of self-operating machine, or a machine or control
mechanism designed to automatically follow a predetermined sequence of operations, or
respond to predetermined instructions.

Through this workshop, students were able to learn about the real time examples
of automata such as automatic photo printing machines, artificial card punching machine,
human detection and reorganization machine etc. and also how the formality of automata
theory can be applied to the analysis, and manipulation of actual human language as well as

Short Term Training Programme on Unigraphics (NX) - Advanced High-end


CAD/CAM/CAE Software

Mr. D. Vinoth Raj, Department of Mechanical Engineering coordinated the event on 30 th


December 2018.

The workshop focused on the learning of Unigraphics (NX) and Advanced High-end
CAD/CAM/CAE Software.

The main goal of the workshop was to first develop the students with interactive and
attractive key functions of Unigraphics (NX). It leads to skills of designing, simulating and
manufacturing the machining modules with the use of CAD/CAE/CAM software in a single
module.

Unigraphics (NX) have the complete package of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM),


computer-aided engineering (CAE) and Computer-aided manufacturing software solutions
at the place of machine tool programming, processing, machine simulation and machine
manufacturing. The software’s advanced function has the capacity to maximize the returns
on investment in the latest machine tool technology.

At the end of the day, students were coupled with deep knowledge of Unigraphics (NX)
software with the use of advanced customization techniques.
Value Added Course
Design of Approach with Machining

The Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a Value-Added Course, “Design of


Approach with Machined Part” from 20th September 2019 to 9th October2019.

The course curriculum focuses on various designs of approaches with Machined Part, which
covers fundamental concepts of optimization techniques for machine process to investigate
the machining parameters of machine parts.

This course is designed for students with an interest in optimization techniques involved
in various machine processes. The students were able to gain knowledge about Anova
techniques, Taguchi method and repression method. Also students gained knowledge to
solve the problems in research papers.

After the completion of the course, students were able to predict the optical parameter using
Taguchi method with experimental Reading.

Twenty students participated in the course and, received the Course Completion
Certificates at the end of the program. Mr. Mamundi Azaath was the resource person for
this course.

Anti Ragging Cell of our college is the most vigilant cell with an objective to eradicate
ragging and make the environment best for growth through learning. Anti Ragging Cell is
active in all-time spans by conducting various progamme and disseminate committee
member’s name and helpline posters within the campus.
The Chief Guest was introduced to the gathering by Dr. O.T. John, Placement officer at the
commencement of the programme. Mr. Sulthan Basha , Manager honored the chief guest
with the memento. Dr. Jayson K Jayabharatha, Director and Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal
felicitated the event.

The chief guest discussed the various metrics the students should follow to safeguard
themselves from ragging. He conveyed the guidelines and details of the helpline provided by
the government to deal with Anti-Ragging. Students were highly motivated after listening to
the guest's speech. In the closing ceremony Mr.Manikandan, AP/Physics proposed the vote of
thanks.

ENTERPRENEURSHIP AWARENESS CAMP

Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology conducted a DST, EDII, Gujarat Sponsored three
days “Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp” held on from 24th to 26th September, 2018.

The Resource persons for the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp were Mr. Ramasamy Desai,
Proprietor, CR consultancy, Trichy, Dr.A. Dhana Laxmi, Head of skill development division center
for entrepreneurship development cell, Madurai, and Mr.M. Subburajan, Programme Manager center
for entrepreneurship development cell, Madurai.

This program focused entirely on the students, Leading Entrepreneurs from near by cities delivered
special lectures on Entrepreneurship. Around 75 Future Entrepreneurs participated and the program
was coordinated by Ms.T. Pandikumari, Department of Mechanical Engineering, MZCET.

At the end of the program Certificates were distributed to the active participants and the feedback
about the program was also collected.

organized a three day “Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp” Sponsored by DST(NIMAT),
EDII, Gujarat. It was commenced on 3rd September 2019 and ended on 5th September 2019.

Madurai, Mr.R.Narashima Iyengar, Corporate Trainer and Consultant, Coimbatore,

Trust ,Madurai were the Resource persons for the Entrepreneurship Awareness Camp.

Youth Talk -2018

The ICT Academy branch of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology vibrantly
initiated the Youth Talk – 2018 in the campus to identify the students gifted with
communication skills. Students, with deep enthusiasm prepared videos of them talking upon
themes suggested by the academy and submitted to the academy through their web portal.
Five students, namely, Vijaykumar III EEE, P. Gomathi III CSE, Jeba Singh III EEE, A.
Gowsalya III CSE, A. Gayathri III CSE were selected to participate in the Regional Level
Prelims at Saranathan College of Engineering, Tiruchirappali on 28th September, 2018.

Cloud Literacy Day – 2019

Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, ICT Academy of Tamil Nadu, and
AWS Educate have jointly organized Cloud Literacy Day 2019 in the campus on 22-10-2019.
115 students from various departments actively participated in the program. It is imperative
for students to learn the cloud technologies skills to make them on par with industrial
standards.

AWS Educate Login Credentials were assigned to individual students who participated in the
event, where they could pursue the cloud technology courses through self-learning modules.

At the completion of every module, students were tested with assessments to evaluate their
skills. Successful completion of the courses enabled the students to get E-Badges.
The event was coordinated by ICT Academy Coordinator, HOD and Relationship Manager,
ICT ACT.

Sales Force Super Badge Campaign 2019

Mr. J Allan Joy, Relationship Manager, ICT Academy, initiated the one month long Sales
Force Super Badge Campaign 2019 in December 2019.

The purpose of the program was to make the students master the Salesforce Platform. The
Relationship Manager highlighted the features of SalesForce and the importance of learning.
He also stretched up the upcoming opportunities in International Job Market for freshers.
Students were assigned with various self-learning modules. Badges and Super Badges were
awarded to the students when the assigned modules were completed by them

Computer Science and Engineering students participated in the course and were benefited
greatly.

Youth Talk-2019

Youth Talk 2019 was initiated amongst the students in the campus by the ICT Academy
branch of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology. Faculties trained the students
to speak on various themes listed in the official website of Youth Talk -2019. Students
prepared videos of them talking on topics they selected and submitted for evaluation by the
Youth Talk officials. Rahulkumar Singh, CSE and B. Mounika, CSE were selected and
invited to participate in the Madurai Regional Level Prelims at AAA College of Engineering,
Virudhunagar.

COMUTER SOCIETY OF INDIA

Web Designing Contest

CSI – Chapter of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology organized the web designing
contest for the CSE students on 30.07.2018. 50 students were registered for the contest and actively
participated in the competition. The various themes were given to the participants to select one to
design websites in the contest. At the end of the competition, students came out with fabulous
interactive websites.

Among the participants S. Amirthakesavan, III year CSE, Mohamed Hassan Khan II year CSE,
Naptali Raja .C, IV year CSE were selected for the first, second, and third prizes respectively.
CSI – Coordinator Mrs. A. Sangetha, coordinated the event.

Workshop on Mobile Application Development using Phone Gap Tool

Department of Computer Science and Engineering and CSI – Student Chapter joined together and
organized a one-day workshop on “Mobile Application Development using Phone Gap Tool” on
20.09.2019 in our college campus. Nearly 85 students from various engineering colleges all over
TamilNadu have participated in the workshop. Mrs. D. Elavarasi, HoD/CSE welcomed the gathering
and shared about the importance of the workshop in the current scenario to the participants.

Session one began with the fundamentals of mobile application development tools by Mrs. A.
Sangeetha, CSI-Coordinator. Further hands-on sessions were handled by Mr. N. Jagadeesh, AP/CSE.

The Hands-on session focused on user interface design, database connection, sample application step
by step developments.
At the end of the programme certificates were distributed to the participants.

Seminar On digitalization an Endless Era


CSI- Students chapter organized a one-day seminar on “Digitalization an Endless Era” on 16.09.2019.
Mr.N. Gopinath, Founder, G-Tech Web Solution invited as the guest speaker for the seminar.
Mrs. D. Elavarasi, HoD/CSE welcomed and introduced the guest speaker to the audience.

Mr. Gopinath in his speech addressed the various needs to make digitalization today. He highlighted
his perception of how digital era is going to be in the future. At the end of his session, he gave various
case studies about the digitalization of business data and its benefits. Guest Speaker took immense
time to make good interaction with the students and was appreciated by the students in Q&A session.

140 students were participated and were benefited very much. The seminar ended with vote of thanks
proposed by Mr.N.Jagadeesh, AP/CSE.

YOUTH RED CROSS

The Youth Red Cross was inagurated in Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology in the
academic year of 2004-2005.It is a voluntary relief movement whose purpose is to protect life, health
and to ensure respect for the human life.

World Population Day Awareness


The Youth Red Cross of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology has conducted World
Population Day Awareness programme on 20thJuly 2018.

The Resource persons for the World Population Day Awareness programme were Mr. T. Kannan,
Regional Health Expansion Educator, Government Primary Health Centre, Nachanthupatti. Dr. S.
Manoj, Regional Medical Officer, Nachanthupatti. The Chief Guest for this event was Dr. Manoj who
helped to raise awareness among people about the importance of family planning, adoption, gender
equality, poverty, maternal health and human rights. It also seeks to show people the adverse effects
that mass population can have on the delicate ecosystem of the world and now the development of
society.

Approximately 100 students from our college volunteered with great enthusiasm to help create
awareness of reducing population worldwideand how to control the growth rate among the student
community to create a better environment.

Elocution Contest – Preliminary Round

The Elocution Contest-Preliminary round entitled “Increase in population and its effects “was
conducted in our college premises on 23rd July 2018.

A total of 12 Students participated in this contest and the winners were awarded withprizes by the
dignitaries. This contest was based on World Population Day.

Dr.O.T. John and Dr. J. Srinivas were the resource persons for conducting this Elocution Contest.

Science of Yogic Breathing

The Youth Red Cross Club of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology conducted the
Science of Yogic Breathing on 8th March 2019.

Mr. A. SenthilKumar, M.A(Yoga), MZCET, was the Resource person for conducting the Science of
Yogic Breathing. A Total of 100 students participated in this awareness program and was very much
benefitted.

Students were able to get acquainted with the ancient literary excerpts on Yogic breathing and
practiced key breathing exercises from an ancient tradition
They understood the physiological, emotional and biological mechanismsof Pranayama. This program
was designed for students of all levels. Participants learnt easy exercises to relieve day-to-day stress,
and to improve overall wellness.

Rally (Walk) On “YRC- Centenary Celebration (1920 - 2020)”

The YRC of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology Pudukkottai, took part in Rally
walk on “YRC- CENTENARY CELEBRATION (1920 - 2020)”. The chief guest Dr. Raja Mohamed,
YRC Secretary and others initiated the rally towards Pudukkottai Town Hall from Court on 18 th
February 2019.

Dr. RajaMohammed, Secretary Pudukkottai District was the Resource person for organizing the Rally
on YRC-Centenary Celebration (1920-2020). A Total of 26 Students participated in this Rally.

DISASTER MANAGEMENT “MOCK DRILL”

Awareness Programme on “Disaster Management- MOCK DRILL” was conducted in our college
premises by YRC clubon 5th November 2019.

The chief guest Dr. Raja Mohamed, YRC Secretary created awareness to the students community.

This Program created Public Awareness in Disaster Management by sharing Knowledge and
Information about the various types of disasters and their potential risks as widely as possible so that
people can act appropriately when a disaster happens.

DRUG ABUSE - AWARENESS “PLEDGE”

Awareness Programme on “Drug abuse - Pledge” was taken by the students of our college in the
college premises and it was practiced on every Monday first hour to create awareness to the student
society from 26th June 2019 onwards.

Mr. K. Kanivalan, YRC Programme coordinatorMZCET was the Resource person for organizing the
Drug-Abuse Awareness programme. A total of 845 students participated actively in the Awareness
pledge.

The Red Ribbon Club of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai
organized a “Field ExposureProgramme (ICTC-Government Hospital ,Thirumayam)” for RRC
Volunteers on 12.09.2018 at 02.00 p.m.

Mrs. N. Kavitha, ICTC Counsellor, Govt. Hospital, Thirumayam spoke on AIDS as a threat
to human beings and also explained about the HIV Testing Procedure. 38 students and 2 staff
members visited ICTC Thirumayam to gain exposure regarding counseling AIDS patients and treating
them.

Programme Summary Report


On a fine morning of 01 st October 2019, Red Ribbon Club of Mount Zion College of
Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai organized a blood donation camp, the initiative was taken
by the RRC unit of the College in accordance with the blood bank of the Medical College of
Pudukottai.

The team from the Medical College of Pudukottai including Dr.Radhakrishnan, Blood bank, Govt.
Hospital, Aranthanki, and Dr. Isthris and Dr. Hemalatha, Govt. Hospital, Thirumayam and few nurses
arrived at the College premises before the scheduled time and the program was started exactly at
10:00 a.m sharply.
Dr.Edwin, Ex. Blood Bank Officer, Govt. Hospital, Pudukkottai, was the Chief guest and was given a
warm floral welcome, he delivered the special address highlighting the importance of this program
and insisted that this should be organized by every College.

The first initiatives were taken by our Director Dr. Jayson K. Jayabarathan, Mr. Karthik, Assistant
Professor in Mathematics as they inaugurated the blood donation camp. Later, other teachers,
students, non- teaching staff of the college and alumni donated blood. The donors were given
refreshments to reenergize them as energy boosters. The donors were also provided with the blood
donating certificates by the Pudukottai Medical College.

A total of 78 units of blood were collected in total and the program went on till 2:30 pm. The college
cooperated greatly with the medical team and lunch was provided to all of them. The team was very
much satisfied with the program by the college as it was the second time they were conducting this
camp in this college and they always had a very good appreciation for our college

Dr.Radhakrishnan, Blood Bank, Govt. Hospital, Aranthangi thanked the RRC co-coordinator of the
College Dr. N. Manikandan and requested others also to host many more such programmes in the
campus.
A great initiative of organizing a blood donation camp was taken by Mount Zion College
of Engineering and Technology, Pudukottail on 15th March 2019, Friday on the college campus
by the Rotary Club of Pudukottai central, Rotract Club and Red Ribbon Club of MZCET. The
blood donation program began at 10:30 am. All the students along with the professors took
great initiatives.

A group of 3 doctors and 6 nurses who were from Pudukottai Medical College and Hospital were
present on the campus for conducting the camp. The donors were asked to fill a medical form to
give details about their health-related information.

Before the donation, body weight, blood pressure, and body temperature were checked so that
the one donating blood is fit to donate blood. The program was held in the college premises.

The one donating blood was taken to the relaxation room for rest for a few minutes and given
certificates and refreshments. A total of 73 units of blood were collected in total and the
program went on till 2:30 pm

The professors of respective departments along with the principal took part in this great
programme organized by the college. The principal acknowledged the college authorities and
the college RRC and Rotract club for such a great initiative and encouraged to have many more
similar programmes.
The students and teachers were asked to share their views about their feeling of blood
donation by the covering media channels and were printed the next day on the newspaper
columns.

NSS

Campus Cleaning Programme

NSS unit of our college conducted the campus cleaning programme at Government Higher Secondary
School, Lembalakkudi on 07.03.2019. Fifteen NSS volunteers of our college rendered their service in
campus cleaning work in the school.

Mr. S. Sakthivelu, NSS Programme Officer motivated the student’s gesture in social service activities
and he mentioned the importance of their contributions to the society through NSS. NSS Programme
Officer coordinated the programme. At the end of the programme Head master of the Government
Higher Secondary School, Lembalakkudi appreciated the volunteers and conveyed his thanks on
behalf of all students and staff of the school

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Survey – I & II

Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Survey was conducted in two phases by NSS team of our college. The survey
of Phase I was conducted on 10.09.2018 by twenty NSS volunteers and NSS Programme Officer at
Melur, Arasampatti and Lembalakkudi villages.

Seventeen NSS volunteers involved in the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Survey Phase II on 08.02.2019.
UBA is the household survey conducted at Pilivalam and Elanjavur by the team of NSS volunteers of
our college which is headed by NSS Programme officer Mr. S. Sakthivelu and Dr. Prabhakaran, UBA
coordinator.

Organ Donation Awareness Marathon

Transplant Authority of Tamil Nadu (TRANSTAN) organized Organ Donation Awareness Marathon
at Pudukkottai on 17-08-2019. To show up the interest and to create an awareness among the society
and students in organ Donation, our NSS volunteers and staff participated in the marathon. The
honourable Health Minister Dr C.Vijayabaskar hoisted the flag in the event. The event consists of a 5-
km-long marathon and over xx participants were active in the event. The marathon began at
Pudukottai court premises and terminus was the KKC College, Pudukottai. Our NSS volunteers
participation in Marathon was appreciated by Dr. P. Balamurugan, Principal at the campus.

Campus cleaning program


NSS unit of MZCET conducted a one day campus cleaning program at the Government Hospital,
Thirumayam on 09.09.2019 from 10.00 a.m to 04.00 p.m. The volunteers dedicated themselves to
clean the hospital according to the directions of the programme coordinator. The chief doctor of the
hospital had motivated the cleaning process and appreciated the volunteers for their valuable
contributions to them and society. Appreciations paved the way for aroused interest in social service
among volunteers.

Awareness on plastic

Mr. S. Sakthivelu, NSS coordinator and Dr. Prabakaran UBA coordinator of our college participated
in the Grama Sabha meeting at Pilivalam village on 02.10.2019. Awareness was given to the gathered
public about the usage and disposal of plastic wastes. The public who attended the meeting, shown
their positive responses for discussion about the disposal of plastic wastes. Coordinators were
appreciated by Dr. Jayson K Jayabharathan , Director and Dr. P.Balamurugan for their august
presence in the grama sabha meeting.

INDEPENDANCE DAY (15 TH Aug 2019)

Our College celebrated the 74th Independence Day on 15th August 2019. Mr. Selva
Kannan, Physical Director coordinated the Independence Day Programme.

Central Rotary Pudukkottai, Rtn. S.Kathiresan hoisted the National flag. Director,
Principal, faculty members and students felicitated. Sweets were distributed to
everyone towards the end of the program.

REPUBLIC DAY (REPUBLIC DAY 2018)

Our college celebrated 69th Republic Day on 26th of January, 2018 with great éclat. The
ceremony took place in the presence of Director, Principal, HOD’s of various departments,
faculty members and students. The ceremony commenced with the unfurling of the National
Flag by the Chief Guest. This was accompanied by the rendition of National Anthem. Along
with that stirring speeches were given by the Chief Guest and the Director. The ceremony

SCIENCE DAY

26th National Science Congress State level workshop on the focal theme “Science,
Technology and Innovation for a clean, green and healthy nation” was organized in our
campus on 16th and 17th of June, 2018.

ALL INDIA TOUR

Our college arranged a week long (18th to 25th August) All India tour for our
students. Participant of the tour left on 18th morning Students visited Agra, Jaipur,
Akshardham and Delhi. It was a thrilling, stress buster, fun and fact learning
experience for students. Faculty members accompanied the students always. The tour
came to an end on 25th August.
Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukkottai arranged an All India tour
for the students. Dr. Srivasan, Mr. Manikandan and Mrs.Rohini, Department of Computer
Science and Engineering, were coordinated this tour. 50 students actively participated in this
tour.

The birthday of our Honorable Chairman was celebrated on 16th December, 2018
with great pomp and splendor. All have gathered in the auditorium along with the
Vice- Chairperson, Director and the Principal of our college to raise an enology and
to recollect his 50 years of service in the field of education. We are grateful and
happy to be under his guidance and it is an enriching experience to be a better
professional and to serve the society through the field of Education.

BIRTHDAY CELEBRATION (Director)

Our respected Director’s birthday was celebrated on 24th February, 2019. All the
faculty members and students gathered in the auditorium along with the Vice
Chairperson and the Principal to thank him for his contribution and leadership for the
past two decades. Principal remembered their sensational accomplishments with our
Director. The celebration came to a close with sweets distribution.

PONGAL CELEBRATION 2019

Pongal Festival (Tamilar Thirunaal) was celebrated in our campus on 12 th January,


2019. The staff and the students participated in the celebration with great passion and
prepared delicious pongal with compassion and nurture. The celebration was so
lively. Pongal and sugarcane were distributed to all.

BOY'S HOSTEL DAY "JOUVERS' 18"

Boy’s Hostel Day “JOUVERS’ 18” was celebrated on 26th February, 2018. The intention
behind this day was to encourage the hostellers to come together and to be united. Honored
the occasion by their presence of our Director, Principal and the hostel warden. Various
cultural programs were conducted. The celebration ended with a delicious dinner.

GIRL'S HOSTEL DAY

Girl’s hostel day was celebrated on 29th February, 2018. It was one of the most
joyous days for the girls residing in the hostel. A tremendous motivational speech
was delivered to the students by the vice-chairperson, Mrs.Florence Jayabarathan.
The celebration continued with various cultural programmes. The day ended with a
delightful dinner.
