REVERBERATION – 2022
REVERBERATION – 2022, an event to Felicitate university rank holders and Alumni get-
together of 2016-2020, 2017-2021, 2018-2022
Batch, was conducted at SIMAT Auditorium on
02/07/2022 Saturday. The event started at 10 am
with a prayer followed by a welcome dance by
second year students. Dr. S P Subramanian –
Principal, SIMAT delivered the welcome speech
followed by a presidential address by Mr. M K
Parameswaran Namboodiripad (Chairman,
Sreepathy Trust). The event was formally
inaugurated by Mr. T M Ummer Farook (PTA
President, SIMAT). Management representatives
Dr. K M Thrivikraman, Mr. Ajith Kumar Raja M
Felicitated the program. It was followed by the
felicitation of University rank holders and
memento distribution to our Alumni friends. The
presence of faculty members and HODs who left
SIMAT for better opportunities, added more color
to the event. The formal event came an end with vote of thanks by Ms. Sreebala P (Program
coordinator, AP ECE). The formal event was followed by DJ Party by DJ PRAASH. The event
winded up with a sumptuous lunch. The day was a very memorable one for all the Alumni
friends and staff members who attended the event.

VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES AT REVERBERATION-2022
As part of the alumni get-together program, the volunteers of NSS unit 233 were involved in
various duties. The active aid of volunteers led to the smooth conduction of the program.

SREEPATHY STUDENTS SPONSORSHIP SCHEME LAUNCH
Sri. T S Pattabhiraman, Chairman & Managing Director of Kalyan Silks inaugurated the
Sreepathy Students Sponsorship Scheme launched by Sreepathy Engineering College by giving
the first sponsorship amount to Mr. Srivishnu P who passed plus two with 97.5% marks.
Thrithala Block Panchayat Development Standing Committee Chairperson Mrs. Priya, Sreepathy
Trust Director Mr. Ajith Kumar Raja, College Principal Dr S P Subramanian were also present.

STATE LEVEL PROJECT EXPO


In the state level project expo and competition held at JCET Lakkidi on 06/07/2022, the team
consisting of Aneesh P S, Jagadeesan A K, Neeraj K, and Vishnu V, final year mechanical
engineering students of SIMAT, won second place for the project Domestic Waste Management
System, under the supervision of Dr. Ramkumar P N, HOD, ME. This team introduced a simple
new model for solid waste treatment.

'RESEARCH PAPER WRITING – WORKSHOP’
A workshop on Research Paper writing has been conducted on 11th July 2022, at Sreepathy
Institute of Management and Technology (SIMAT). The program was organised by SIMAT in
association with Innovation and
Entrepreneurship Development Centre,
SIMAT, MHRD’s Innovation Cell
(Govt. of India) and Institution
Innovations Council. The event was
started with a prayer song by Mr.
Sreedath M. K., AP ME. Dr.
Ramkumar P. N., HOD, ME welcomed
all to this program. Dr. S P
Subramanian, Principal of SIMAT
inaugurated the function. In his speech
he emphasized the importance of research writing and requested everyone to contribute their
work to the SIMAT journal. Dr. K. T. Madhavan, Head R & D, SIMAT, has given the

felicitation speech on the role of paper/technical writing in promoting teaching/research quality.


Dr. Hema P. Menon, HOD CSE gave vote of
thanks to the participants. The event was
conducted with 32 participants in offline
mode at seminar hall.
The next session was a hands on training
session in which the participants are directed
to write a brief literature review and interpret
a finding in their own way, on the topic of
their interest. During the hands on session
various software/ online tools that helps the
research writing process were discussed and
used. The session was led by Dr. Hema P.

Menon and Dr. Ramkumar P. N. During the valediction, the certificates were distributed and
feedback was collected followed by the vote of thanks.

JINGLES – CULTURAL PROGRAMME


A cultural program 'JINGLES',
included competitions like Sing
& Steal-musical event and
mimic/mono act -performing
event, was conducted for all the
students in the open hour on 1st
July 2022 at Seminar Hall.
Students from various
department was participated
and Ms. AnjaliAnanthan (AP,

ECE Dept.), Ms. Sindhu (AP, AS&H Dept.), Ms. Dhanya TN (LI, CSE Dept.) are the jury
members for the events. Ms. Neethu Krishna (S4 ECE) won the first prize in Sing & Steal and
Shifa (S2 B batch) won the first prize in mono act.

VOLUNTEERING ACTIVITIES AT AROGYAMELA


Arogyamela was a health-oriented program conducted jointly by Thrithala block panchayath and
community health centre, Chalissery on 02 July 2022 at GHS Nagalassery. The inauguration of
the program was done by honourable speaker Sri. MB Rajesh. The volunteers of NSS Unit 233,
SIMAT were involved in various duties and coordination of this program. For this event, there
were 23 volunteers from NSS Unit 233 of SIMAT and this team was led by Fayiz ummer and
Medha vasudevan (Volunteer Secretaries NSS Unit 233). They coordinated the entire unit. The
volunteers took part actively in the works including reception, food, stage & audience, medical
stalls etc. There were 9 stalls in the Arogyamela and for each stall, a volunteer was assigned. The

active and enthusiastic work of the volunteers was appreciated by the organizers of the program.
The event ended by 5 pm.

A HANDS ON TRAINING WORKSHOP IN MATLAB


A hands on training workshop in MATLAB was conducted on 14th and 15th July 2022. The

boot camp was jointly organised by IIT Palakkad, MathWorks and IEDC SIMAT. Students from
S6 ECE and EEE participated in the workshop.
The major contents of the workshop included:

1. Intro to MATLAB
2. Intro to Simulink
3. Modelling multi domain systems
4. Building interactive apps with app designer
5. Hardware deployment workflows

PROTOTYPE DEPLOYMENT AT KERI


Prototype deployment OF “Real Time Reservoir Water Level Monitoring System” was
performed at KERI (Kerala Engineering Research Institute) on 15/07/2022. The prototype was
designed by Mr. Abhilash Madhav K, Mr. Abhishek K, Mr. Shibin, Mr. Sivanath V & Mr. Vivek
T (EEE 2018 Batch) under the Guidance of Dr K T Madhavan, Mr. Sugesh M S & Mr. Sebin
Sunny P.

VALEO
IEEE SB SIMAT conducted a farewell ‘VALEO’ on
the 16th of July 2022 at 9.30 AM in the Seminar Hall.
It was a morning of mixed emotions for all present in
the seminar hall to witness the farewell. The Day was a

fiesta devoted to the years spent


together with all. The current IEEE SB
committee organized farewell party
with great enthusiasm. Later, the juniors
thanked the seniors for being a strong
pillar for them.

"INTRODUCTION TO ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE"
Clementia, in association with IEDC SIMAT conducted a session on "Introduction to Artificial
Intelligence" by Mr. Karthik K, AI Engineer, Innovation Incubator Advisory on 17/07/22.

Artificial intelligence refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are
programmed to think like humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any
machine that exhibits traits associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-solving.
AI refers to the simulation of human intelligence in machines that are programmed to think like
humans and mimic their actions. The term may also be applied to any machine that exhibits traits
associated with a human mind such as learning and problem-
solving.

REGIONAL LEVEL WORKSHOP


The NSS Unit of Nirmala college of engineering, in
association with APJAKTU NSS Energy Cell and
Energy Management Centre Trivandrum, conducted 5
a Regional Level Workshop on 30 July 2022 as part
of the Clean Tech Challenge (CEIBIC). The energy
cell members Mr. Goutham Krishna, Mr Abhimanue ,
Ms. Abhirami and Mr. Sivaprasad from NSS Unit

233, SIMAT participated in the workshop actively. At the end of the program, participation
certificates were handed over to the volunteers who attended the workshop.
"AUGMENTED REALITY AND VIRTUAL REALITY"
Clementia conducted a session on "Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality" handled by Mr.
Adithyan K, Test Engineer, Indegen Pvt. Ltd on
19th July 2022.Augmented reality (AR) is an
interactive experience of a real-world environment
where the objects that reside in the real world are
enhanced by computer-generated perceptual
information, sometimes across multiple
sensory modalities,
including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory an
d olfactory. AR can be defined as a system that
incorporates three basic features: a combination of
real and virtual worlds, real-time interaction, and
accurate 3D registration of virtual and real objects.

CLEAN TECH CHALLENGE


The Energy cell of NSS UNIT 233 SIMAT organised a State level program “Clean Tech
Challenge” on 25/07/2022. The program started with manavageetham. The students were all
gathered at the entrance of the college. A van came and a video was shown to all regarding the
importance of energy and energy conservation. A quiz competition was conducted and prizes

were given to the winners. Sri. Jishnu B H (NSS program officer, SIMAT) handed over the

poster to Mr Fayis ummer (NSS volunteer secretary, SIMAT). Smt. Sushma(HOD, ECE Dept)
and Sri. Jishnu B H(NSS program officer, SIMAT) spoke a few words on the topic. Sri. Syam
Prasad G(District coordinator APJAKTU NSS cell) and several other staff also gathered there for
the program. Many students were also there and participated in the quiz competition actively.
STATE LEVEL ENERGY WORKSHOP
The NSS Unit of Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, Kalady in association
with APJAKTU NSS Energy cell
and Energy Management Centre
Trivandrum conducted a state level
energy workshop on 28 July 2022 as
part of the Clean Tech Challenge
(CEIBIC). Volunteers from NSS
Unit 233, SIMAT also participated
in the workshop. Mr. Fayiz Ummer,
Mr. Pranav CN and Mr. Sincel
Rajesh (Energy cell member) went
to Adi Shankara college and
attended the workshop very well. At
last, participation certificates were
handed over to the volunteers.
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
1. Ms. Suhailath , Ms. Divya ,Ms. Vaishnavi and Ms. Vichithra secured first place in the
programme “VaakumVarayum- The SIMAT ian Art an initiative of EEE 2019

STAFF ACHIEVEMENT
1. Mr. Sebin Sunny was awarded a sensecap K1100 kit worth 25K to do edge AI based
research by seed studio
2. Project entitled " Realtime Reservoir level monitoring system for disaster management"
guided by Mr. Sebin Sunny was selected by IIT Palakkad to showcase in tech4seva event
at IIT Delhi
3. Mr Sebin Sunny participated in an FDP - AI & IoT using cloud, organized by IBM
4. Mr. Sebin Sunny participated in an FDP - Modern app development, organized by
Google
5. Mr. Sebin Sunny participated in an FDP - AI, ML & IoT organized by ARM and AICTE

6. Second version of dam level monitoring prototype was successfully tested at Peechi
reservoir by Mr. Sebin Sunny and team.
7. Mr Sebin Sunny visited Ezhakkad bamboo Cluster as a part of KDISC consultancy
project. An amount of 4.5L was sanctioned by KDISC and the first installment of 89K
was given by KDISC for the project.
8. Mr Sebin Sunny was awarded Tiny ML/AI kits worth 60K by Edge ML/AI foundation to
do research in edge AI.
9. Mr Sebin Sunny represented IEDC SIMAT in the stakeholder consultation meeting
organized by
10. Raspberry pi foundation - IEDC SIMAT is the only entity from Kerala selected for the
stake holder consultation.
11. Mr Sebin Sunny was invited for the RMoC meeting by NitiAayog. Mr Sebin Sunny
represented Kerala in the meeting.
12. MSME approved the proposal submitted by Mr Sebin Sunny and TBI SIMAT was
approved as a HI BI.
13. Archdiocese of Thrissur honored Mr. Sebin Sunny for the contributions done towards
the education sector for fostering an innovative ecosystem.
14. Mr. Sankaranarayanan KM attended 9 day faculty development program “Advances in
Sustainable Construction Materials and Technologies” organized by Electronics and ICT
academy, NIT Warangal conducted between 18- 27 July 2022
15. Following projects mentored by Mr Sebin Sunny was selected for final pitching of idea
grant of 2 Lakh

III. Agricure
IV. Dam & canal automation

DAY OBSERVATIONS

International Friendship Day was observed by the NSS unit 233 of SIMAT on July 30th 2022.
