Essay Visit Fruit Farm

Last month, our class went on a field trip to a dragon fruit farm.
It is near Sepang, not far from Kuala Lumpur International Airport.
We were greeted by Mr Lee, the owner of the farm.

Mr Lee took us on a tour of the farm. The tour was very informative.
We learnt that there are three dragon fruit varieties. They are red fruit
with red flesh, red fruit with white flesh and yellow fruit with white
flesh. The flowers bloom briefly, for one night only. The flowers are
large and attractive, with a sweet tropical fragrance when in full bloom.
Unopened flower buds can be cooked like vegetables.

Mr Lee harvests about 80 to 100 tonnes of the fruit monthly. He

supplies the fruit for processing into various products including cordials,
jams, pastes, powders and enzymes. Before leaving the farm, he gave us
a piece of advice. To operate a fruit farm, one must have passion and
patience, work hard and never give up.

We left the farm at around 4.00 p.m. The farm tour was interesting as
we gained knowledge about dragon fruits. It was experience not to be
missed.
