Flashcards - Topic 1.2 Motion - CAIE Physics IGCSE

The document contains flashcards about motion for a GCSE Physics exam. It defines the three main components of motion as speed, direction, and acceleration. It also provides equations for average speed, acceleration, and explains key concepts like the difference between speed and velocity, what graphs of displacement, velocity, and speed over time represent, and terminal velocity.

Explain how terminal velocity is reached (supplement)
● Initially in free fall, the only force is weight,
causing acceleration downwards
● As speed increases, air resistance (which acts
upwards) increases
● This decreases the resultant force
● Eventually air resistance = weight, so there is no
resultant force, resulting in terminal velocity
