Note: Engine ECM flash files are downloaded separately using the "Service Software Files" link on the
SIS web home page.

"RM300 and RM500 App Files"on Paving Products Section on SIS Web "General Download Utility"
Scroll down to the "Paving Products" section and select the correct zip folder named "RM300 and RM500
App Files". Save the zipped folder to the desktop or a known folder on your PC.
Note: Installation instructions are provided in the "Additional Info" document.
Open the saved "RM300 and RM500 App Files" and extract or decompress the files. This action is
important because the application files are installed by executable files, and executable files will not
correctly execute in a compressed format. Extract or decompress the downloaded flash file folder to a
"C:\Program Files\Caterpillar\CATWebGPI" folder structure on your PC.
Note: If using Sauer-Danfoss WebGPITM, extract or decompress the downloaded folder to a "C:\Program
Files\Sauer Danfoss\WebGPI" folder.
After the zip file has been extract or decompress, there should be folders titled Cat RM300 & RM500 App
Files. Click on the executable files within. The App Files can now be installed.
Note: A zipped folder for the "Cat WebGPI" service tool is located above the "RM300 and RM500 App
Files".
Connecting Machine to WebGPITM Service Tool

Prep the machine for the install: Center the front and rear wheels, Move the "FNR" handle to neutral, Move
speed dial to either max or min. Doing these things will insure that incorrect values are not set as calibrated
values.
Connect to the machine ECM, if not already done.
Typical Machine ECM Connection - Located inside electrical cabinet behind the engine
(1) Connector for Service Tool
(2) Storage Receptacle for Service Tool Connector
Connect to the machine using the 245-4121 Communication Cable As . Turn the key switch to the ON
position. Open the Sauer-Danfoss WebGPITM service tool onto your PC by clicking the application icon on
your desktop.
Note: To download the Caterpillar WebGPITM service tool, refer to Troubleshooting, "Service Tool
Software - Install" in this manual.
Continue with the below steps.
Flash Procedure
Recording System Settings
After the new software is downloaded into the Machine ECM, the system circuits will need to be
recalibrated or the previous system values can be re-entered. Manually entering the values is easier and
saves time. Use Caterpillar WebGPITM, to observe, and record the values from the old software. Then write
the values into the new software after new software is downloaded into the Machine ECM.
After WebGPITM opens, establish a connection and open the application interface with Caterpillar
WebGPITM. Click on the "Connect" icon button and after connection is made, click the "Application" icon
button found on the top tool bar.

- IMPORTANT - Before new software is flashed, go into each of the system screens, illustrated below and
record the settings that are circled in red. These system settings will have to be reinstalled after the new
software is loaded.
FNR Handle - Record the values that are circled
Front EDC Valve - Record the values that are circled
Rear EDC Valve - Record the values that are circled
Rear Current Range - Record the values that are circled

Release Notes for CATTM RM300-500 MC400 Software:
The memory map is different from other previous releases (see at the end of this procedure). The system
will revert to default settings after the install for versions prior to this release. These instructions assume
that the user has experience with WebGPITM.
Save and Download Steps
Select the "Save" Icon Button
1. Save the data from the machine to your computer (XML format). This file will contain all of the
machine settings. These values can be used to restore the machine settings if needed.
Select ".xml"
2. On the file creation pop-up window, select ".xml".
(3) "Select" Button
(4) File Name
(5) "Create" Button
3. Select "Search" (3) and browse to the file folder destination.
Enter / type the file name (4) and select "OK". A path with the file name will appear.
Select "Create" (5) and xml file creation will begin.
If a Java script error occurs during this download, click the "YES" button and continue. Once the
download is complete click the disconnect button on the tool bar.
Click the "Connect" (6) button
Click the "Download" (7) button
4. Download the flash file software to the controller. Connect to the Machine ECM with WebGPITM.
Click on the "Connect" (6) icon button. Clicking the "Connect" icon button, will automatically
recognize the micro type.
Click on the "Download" (7) icon button to download the application (kernel).
"Downloader" Screen (WebGPITM ver 4.0)
5. On the Caterpillar WebGPITM "Downloader" screen, click on the "Search" button of the downloader
screen and on the "Select File" pop-up window, navigate to the "C:\Program
Files\Caterpillar\CATWebGPI" folder. Open the appropriate software folder to be downloaded,
choose the correct flash file (.hex file) within the folder and click "Open". Then back on the
"Downloader" screen, click the "Download" button.
Note: If using Sauer-Danfoss WebGPITM, click the "Search" button of the downloader screen and
navigate to the "C:\Program Files\Sauer Danfoss\WebGPI" folder to locate the flash software.
Note: If a "No Micro Selected" message comes up, under "Microcontroller type" selection, select the
"167" button.
See the listed information on the "Downloader" screen.
"Instruction: Select the proper micromontroller type, file type, and hex - file for download! If the file
cannot be downloaded by the "Download" button (e. g. yellow LED does not blink with 1 Hz or
establish connection failed), then power down the microcontroller and push the "Force download"
button."
Select "Set all Defaults" again and click "OK".
6. Once the download is complete, exit the download screen and click on the "Application" button on
the top of the screen. Within the application screen, select "Set all Defaults" from the choice menu at
the bottom and click "OK".
7. Cycle Power.
8. Select "Set all Defaults" again from the choice menu click "OK".
9. Cycle power for the second time.
10. Start the engine and run the machine for 15 seconds, turn the start switch to OFF and then back ON.
This action will reset the configuration of the optional equipment installed on the machine.
Reenter System Settings
After setting defaults, go into the below screens and change the settings to the settings recorded earlier.
"Speed Dial" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"FNR Handle" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"Front EDC Valve" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"Rear EDC Valve" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"Rotor Height Sensor" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"Front Steer Sensor" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
"Rear Steer Sensor" parameter settings only. Change the values that are circled and click "Send".
Cycle Power, Clear Logged Faults and Start Machine
Cycle the power Off and On. Then click the "System" folder at the top of the left menu and click on the
word "Error History". Click on the "Set Defaults" button at the bottom of the screen. Doing so will clear all
logged faults that were created during calibration and downloading.
"Error History" - scroll down the screen, click the "Set Defaults" button to clear all logged faults
Start the machine and check all functions of machine operation.
