2.1 A:COOLING
The A:COOLING add-on module dissipates heat coming from the combiner.
g If an A:TIFNTPM is used in direct connection with an A:DUAMCOM, they must be
separated by an A:COOLING module to avoid overheating of the A:TIFNTPM
module.
Without A:COOLING, temperatures within limits for the A:TIFNTPM module (max 55 °C
/ 131 °F) can no longer be guaranteed at external temperatures above 45 °C / 113 °F.
The module is fed by a 12 V power supply coming from A:TIFNTPM.

2.2 A:DUAMCO
The A:DUAMCO (Add-on Duplex Amplifier Multicoupler) is a combining module with the
following general functions:
– Duplexing of the RX and the TX path, to be fed to a common antenna
– Amplifying and splitting of the RX signal from the antenna to the CUs
– Coupling of the TX paths from several CUs to the antenna
– TMA (Tower mounted Amplifier) power supply
– Antenna monitoring
The A:DUAMCO has two different operating modes:
– The high amplifying AMCO mode
– The low amplifying MUCO mode for use with the tower-mounted amplifier (TMA) or
in a multicoupler cascade
The hybrid combining can be done with the add-on modules A:DUAMCO2Mx to
combine 2 carriers and A:DUAMCO4Mx to combine 4 carriers.

2.3 A:DUXMEG
The A:DUXMEG (Add-on Duplex Filter for E-GSM) is a duplexer for the E-GSM 900 fre-
quency range with the following general functions:
– Coupling of the transmitting path (TX) from the DCURGs to the antennas
– Splitting the receiving path (RX) from the antennas to the DCURGs
If the E-GSM 900 frequency band is to be provided, the duplexers will not be part of the
DCU modules. Due to their large volume, the E-GSM 900 duplexers are configured as
add-on modules (A:DUXMEG) on top of the base unit and a DCURG module is used as
carrier unit. The combination of DCURG and DUXMEG has the same function as a
single DCUDUX in other frequency ranges.
The TX outputs and the RX inputs of the DCURG are connected to A:DUXMEG via
semi-rigid cables. The antenna output cables from A:DUXMEG run over the backplane
and leave the eMicro at the bottom.
Up to 2 A:DUXMEG add-on modules can be installed at the top of the respective master
cabinet as well as the optional extension cabinet.

2.4 A:OVP
The A:OVP (Add-on Overvoltage Protection) is a lightning protection module for 16
Environmental Alarm (ENVA) lines.
Types of A:OVP
A:OVP16AM S30861-U2139-X
The A:OVP16AM does not need any power supply and there is no PID EEPROM on it.
The module name and the serial number are printed on a bar code label only.
The 16 alarm lines and 16 ground lines are connected to an external connector field
using a cable containing 16 twisted-pair wires.
The 16 alarm lines are guided through the flash duct to the A:OVP16AM. Two alarm
lines are connected to one overvoltage protector module, the two ground lines are tied
together to the ground pin of the module.

A:TIFNTPM (Terrestrial Interface for Network Termination Primary Access Multiplex) is
an add-on module containing either an NTPMGF or an NTPMKU module, to be used as
Abis interface (in the connection between BTS and BSC).
The NTPM is not part of A:TIFNTPM but it will be supplied by the provider as a termina-
tion for the PCM 30 lines.

If two A:TIFNTPMs are used, they need not necessarily be placed over one another. The
two modules have to be directly connected to the two ATIF ports on the backplane of
the eMicro BTS, each by means of a 40-wire flat ribbon cable (up to 80 cm / 31.5 inches
long) terminated on both sides with BK-MOD plugs, to be inserted respectively into the
ATIF port and the input/lowermost socket on the corresponding M:ATIFCON.
In order to manage the cables as easily as possible, the lowermost A:TIFNTPM should
be bridged to ATIF1, the uppermost one to ATIF2.
