INTRODUCTION

Importance of the Project

The importance of this project is to enhance the student skills that can be learned from

every class then the student can apply it to actual phenomena. By doing this on actual can gain

more ideas to enhance the student ability to making it much better one of the skill that can be

developed is the entrepreneurial skill because doing this project have mini-business that can earn

a mini income. The importance of the project is the vegetable production can harvest when there

is a fruit that we can use for needed this project can help the student to improve the skill to how

to grow proper the crop that can be applied for next generation.

Scope of the Project

In the case of crop production, the proponent is planning to go into seed production, fruit

production, and vegetable production using an area of 40m2. The area requirement needs to plant

three different vegetable crops and the main crop is the Melon. The 40m2 can be divided

depends on the area location. My area divided to 4 area Melon have 8m2, String Beans 3m2,

Okra and pepper 12.25m2 and the Egg Plant is 18m2 total of 41.25sqm.

Time and Place of the Project

Vegetable crops project start at the month of March at the back of student house at Purok

5 Brgy. Grullo San Narciso Zambales, and end of July.


PRODUCTION GOALS/OBJECTIVES

Practicum aimed to expose student to actual field practices, enhance knowledge and

develop skill.

Specifically, it aimed to:

1. Gain more experience from the field;

2. Apply knowledge and skills acquired from school;

3. Familiarize in managing goat farm;

4. Expose in farm issues and farm utilization.

5. Develop self-confidence and free from depression and anxiety.

Land Preparation

The student put bamboo fence on the egg plant

The student plowed the soil using the shovel this land preparation was apply to all crops.

Seedling Production

The Melon Honey Dew seedling (Green Flesh) was bought online. This seedling

production was use a seedling tray and vermicat soil (worm manure).

Only honeydew used seedling process the other was buy by seedling at the agri-market

Transplanting

Eggplant transplanting, seedling was 3 weeks old. Watering the plot before transplanting

slowly removes the seedling to seedling tray to not damage the roots.

After transplanting student sprinkle Fermented Plant Juice (FPJ) mix with water.

Fertilization

Fermented Plant Juice(FPJ) Fertilizer application was every thrice a week and complete

fertilizer NPK 14-14-14 applied once a week.

Pest Management

To control the pest at string beans student don’t want to use insecticide student decide use
a drinking alcohol with volume of 40% alcohol then add water 2:1 the ratio of mixing one time
spray direct to the pest effect was on day 2

*This method apply by the student because at province at Tarlac they using it apply to
onion crops because the pest was immune at any insecticide student want to try if this effective at
string beans aphids and the result was successful.

Harvesting

After 3 months student harvest 10 ties of Okra, 5 ties of String Beans, 20 ties of Pepper,
there are no harvest of eggplant and Honey Dew because of problem encountered, but student
still take care for eggplant there some of fruit but not ready for harvest, then for the honey dew
start over by planting because all of first plant was damage by problem encountered.

MARKETING AND ECONOMIC ASPECTS

Marketing

All the harvest was sold by the neighborhood of the student. The price of crops harvest

was same at the market. The student use friendly skill talk to sure buy the selling vegetables it

easy to sell to the neighbor because every day they can my crops and how student take care of it

and no use of harmful chemical.

The total cost is ₱295.00 for 40m2 of Okra, Sitaw, Eggplant, Pepper and Honey dew. The
Income of the student is ₱55.00 and the return above cost in 18.64%. This amount of money the
student gets to a small field but there is some problem encountered so that total was small.
PROBLEMS ENCOUNTERED

The following were the problems that were encountered during the practicum which may

hinder the full potential of the conducted activities to further develop skills in students:

1. The student dog broke the fence dug near the pole and knocked it over the eggplant.

2. The area where the student planted has many surrounding trees so the plants lack

sunlight.

3. Tropical storm DANTE destroyed the melon and overflowed with bamboo.

4. Eggplant soil texture was sandy soil student don’t have enough compost material.
RECOMMENDATION

This practicum of PRMSU under CAVM department was a good activity to a student to

help enhance the skill of the student to grow vegetable at their own hand

To the faculty who handle this practicum to not to stop conducting this kind of activities

this will help all agricultural student to gather more information to help themselves to improve

own skill and student can be shared to the others.

To the student who will do this activity give your all best and don’t take it easy this not

hard this is not easy but when you enjoy it this is nothing this is like your hobby wake up in the

morning check your crops, take care of them like your baby. Also recommend that don’t stop

don’t be satisfy just keep gather more information that will help you improve your own skill.
