1 Title:
Background:
Simulation is recognized as an essential
part of nursing clinical education by nursing
institute (California Board of Registered
Nursing,2015; Colorado Department of
Regulatory Agencies Board of Nursing,2015)
since it can provide a safe environment for
students to learn clinical practice. High-fidelity
human patient simulators replicate many
human physiological functions and anatomical
features. Learners interact with the simulator,
discovering critical assessment information in
the same manner they would with real patients.
The researchers want to conduct this
study to explore the nursing students’
perceptions and experiences of using high-
fidelity human patient simulators as well as the
perception of the nursing faculties, the
difficulties that they have encountered and the
benefits of using this type of teaching tool. It
aims at providing insights into the future
improvement of HFS-based clinical teaching in
the nursing students.
Objectives:
Methodology:
Research Design
A quantitative descriptive study will be used in
this study. This study aimed to describe the
nursing students’ and faculty perceptions on
the use of high-fidelity human patient simulator
as a learning strategy. Descriptive research is
defined as a research method that describes
the characteristics of the population or
phenomenon studied. This methodology
focuses more on the “what” of the research
subject than the “why” of the research subject.

Dear Respondents,
Good day! We, fourth year students at Cavite State University – Don Severino de las
Alas Campus taking up Bachelor of Science in Nursing, are currently conducting an
undergraduate study entitled: “Perception on the Use of Human Patient Simulators in Skills
Laboratory among Faculty and Students of the College of Nursing, Cavite State
University”.
As what the title states, Human Patient Simulator is a life-like manikin that reacts
physiologically as if it were a real patient. Human Patient Simulators are using this type of
computer software to mimic normal and abnormal bodily reactions for training and educational
purposes.
In this study, we, the researchers would like to invite level four nursing students and
faculty members of College of Nursing to be part of our undergraduate research study. If you
agree to be part of our study, you will be asked to answer questions including your demographic
profile and your perception about the use of high-fidelity human patient simulator.
Your participation will be completely voluntary, and you have the right if you wish to
withdraw your participation anytime.
The researchers will take every precaution to keep the details you send private. Any
information gained from this research that can be linked to you will be kept private and not
shared with others without your permission. The answers will be used only for the purposes of
this study, and only the researchers and their advisers will have access to them.
If you have any concerns or questions regarding our study, you may contact Corrine Ivy
S. Callada at corrineivy.callada@cvsu.edu.ph and Menche R. Dapulag at +639156535856.
Consent form
I have read (or have been read) the above information regarding this research study and understand
that I have the freedom to withdraw at any time without incurring any penalty. The purpose of the
research has been well explained, and I have been given opportunity to ask question for clarification.
However, if I choose to join but later decide not to, I will withdraw at any time. If I have any questions
or am interested in the results, I will contact Corrine Ivy S. Callada, the researcher, at the phone
number she gave me during the study.
