X-TEND® II

Bentonite Extender

Description X-TEND II, polyacrylate/polyacrylamide copolymer, is used to increase the yield of


bentonite clays in water-based drilling fluids. X-TEND II acts as a selective flocculant to
agglomerate or coagulate colloidal solids. This allows for more effective removal of solids
by the surface solids control equipment. X-TEND II treated-fluids are shear thinning which
promotes faster drilling rates and more efficient hole cleaning. X-TEND was specifically
developed to work with AQUAGEL® viscosifier products.
